Or is the iwrestledabearonce (like their music or not) frontwoman the most intense live screamer on this planet? I've personally not seen anyone whose screaming sounds more emotional / desperate / powerful live.

Clean singing is still kinda bad though.

I was say so. To be able to sing cleanly like that right after her screaming is total vocal control. Man she's got a screech!

Shes my favorite screamer because of that. The intensity she gets is just fucking awesome! Nothing like the *I'm yelling into a pillow* death metal / core screamers I can't stand.

she's going to totally blow out her voice by the time she's 25 if she keeps that up.
the death voice is already bad enough for the vocal cords, when you push it as hard as she does it is even worse.

+1
they're a pretty sick band, but something tells me that we'll hear about something like this in the near future leading to them calling it quits :noway:

LOL @ the ignorance regarding screaming. Do you honestly think that bands like Lamb Of God can play as many shows as they do for as long as they do unless there is a painless and 100% safe technique to screaming? It's not exactly uncommon knowledge that people have found ways to scream that do about as much damage as singing a lullaby to your children.

there is *no* safe way to do death vocals. death vocals are *not* screaming.

listen to any death metal vocalist later on in their career (chris barnes is the best example), and you can hear how totally shot their voice is. even their speaking voice is damaged by it.

her vocals are nothing like that. she has the blasted quality even on her lows, whitechapel style.

cannibal corpse vocals are super throaty. hers are still a scream, they're just low. it's not like "i growl like cookie monster" like the oldish death bands. totally different technique.

Her screams are the loudest I have ever heard live. Ear shattering. They will be tolerable and then randomly go up like 5 db. Ear plugs are must with IWABO :p

I love the band and them as people. Talked to them after a show, they all gave me a hug for buying a shirt. I WUV IWABO!!!

Most intense? I disagree.
album version first

Live, mic breaks, you still hear JR

And what about Julie Christmas?

And in addition to that, Made out of Babies and Battle of Mice both made music that was GOOD. I haven't heard much of IWABO, but as of yet I remain unimpressed.

Or just not go... Seriously, I really want to like them but I just can't get over them being utterly terrible.

To each his own, i personally enjoyed their live show just as much as Necrophagist, Cannibal Corpse or any of the other amazing bands I've seen, but just on a different level. There is something just utterly fun about the show, and beating the crap out of the crabcore/ninja kickers in the crowd doesnt hurt either.

I'm one of the few people I've seen who's favorite stuff is pretty respected (Guthrie Govan, Scale the Summit, Devin Townsend, Cynic, Necrophagist etc.) but also loves IWABO.

Sure their songs have no structure, defy theory, and are just plain wacky. But I think they pull off the madness and write some stuff that is fun to listen too. I enjoy the fact that I have no idea what is coming next when I pop on an IWABO song. It's a fun respite from the usual Intro, Verse, Chorus, Verse, Bridge, Solo, Verse, Chorus, Outro that is expected in heavy music.

I guess I'm just more willing to overlook some sloppiness or meh in favor of a good time. I'm not saying they are songwriters like Devin Townsend or the Musicianship is like Dream Theater, but they are original and FUN

holy shit at that pig destroyer vid, thats awesome.

The girl from Light This City was pretty impressive live too

I also concur with this above. I was very surprised with the singer from Light this City when I saw them open for Chimaira / All That Remains
