I finally managed to talk my best friend into getting a 7 string. He went with this one: Agile Pendulum Pro 72527 RN Flat Black at RondoMusic.com

Except he got the B-stock one for $500:yesway::yesway:

I plan on showing him this thread. What can he expect jumping from traditional 6 strings to a fanned 7? Is it easy to adjust? Any foresight would be much appreciated.

I think the best way to transition is learn a song with the extended range. Has he played a 7 before? or is he just jumping strait to the fanned fret?

BTW good job on talkin him to the Agile! tell him welcome to the fam damnly:hbang:

He has played 7's and 8's. He enjoys them both, but isnt too keen on the 8's. He is an avid fan of djent and tunes his 6 string down to the 7 string end of the spectrum. He will probably learn some Animals as Leaders and Nevermore and such. And yes, he can play the AAL material. He is an amazing guitarist. I convinced him that a 7 will really unlock his potential.
