I just made it up
Was on an acrylic guitar kick a few years ago but never pulled the trigger. The weight bummed me out too much. But in the interim, I found this amazing creation.
Somebody is going to want fluence pickups and an ebony fretboard on on one of these regardless. I just know it
That is clear af.
I'd probably lose it.
... isn't that the one that the guys at the Air Guitar shows use?
Ah yes the famed Vai Vomit Caster anniversary edition...
Best. Guitar. Ever.
That could be super awesome, if you did something creative with the pattern. You could make a maze, and put a tiny plastic mouse in it, or something, for a novelty show-piece.
Speaking of hollow acrylic guitars . . .
Former Rob Zombie guitarist Riggs had a "blood" filled acrylic Fernandes Vertigo.
Not sure how off-topic this is, but at least there is transparency. There's a video on youtube, this guy who builds guitars out of jawbreaker candy and pencils and stuff.
I am seriously considering trying to find an acrylic neck for mine, but I also really like the maple on maple with the clear body... So torn!
Does hollowing it out and filling it with liquid make it heavier or no?
I know that's not really the point but that's another thing I was kind of interested in with these guitars. You could make one that behaves like a snow globe and the stoner in me wants that to happen.
Transparent with metal flakes that move around!
It would depend on the liquid. hair gel, likely not. Gallium? You bet. Ooh...now i want a gallium filled polycarbonate guitar...
What what I've read, in about 20 seconds of googling a couple of months ago, acrylic is a poor neck material if only for it's lack of stiffness, even compared to some softer woods that you wouldn't normally think of for necks.
This'll be the one guitar ppl are somehow dying to put EMGs in...
I almost bought a Retroactive prewired pickguard.
That's interesting to hear (read). I thought it might be a good one since when I play that strat in the OP the body vibrates like a mofo and it seems to do so for a REALLY long time. I guess I'll stick to my maple, though.
That tele Randy posted is awesome.
That's cool. Does it actually have a truss rod or just the channel routed for one? Who builds these?
