Is there a thread for these things yet?

They're heavy as all hell but they're cool to me.

I like this one a lot.

Post em if you got em. 20190509_172805.jpg

Also, is there a transparent material that can be used to build guitars that doesn't weigh a ton?

Polycarbonate is the alternative OP is thinking of. Moses Graphite was the only company producing PC bodies that ever crossed my radar. They’ve since shut down and Steve Moser now focuses exclusively on phenolic and graphite-impregnated fingerboards, tailpieces, and speakers.

I am not the owner of the above Warlock but its the only Acrylic I ever played. Saw it played live for the first time locally and it looked cool with the stage lights going though the body. I was sceptical about the sound and this was confirmed when I played the thing at the local dealer, the twang it produced was odd. If I had money to burn then I could consider it for a pickup swap and then experiment with the tones from there on. There is one for sale on ebay online (a USA one), maybe EMGs can be a solution to getting something out of it.
Lastly +1 on the weight, these things are heavy, just playing sitting down left a mark on my leg.

I own a cheap as dirt strat clone that I've since borrowed parts from. It sounded great, but it was a cheap as shit guitar and it needed a fret level, and I didn't own the right radius block. They are back breakers for sure, and I actually feared it being too heavy for my strap.

I bought mine as a decoration mainly, and as such it was great. I'm actually going back home in a couple weeks, so I might find a way to bring it to my new place once my visit home is over. Doubtful though, as I have about 5 other guitars I'd rather bring back.

Those Kiesels are super cool. I especially like the strat.

    Dope Tele, Jays :wavey:

Out of curiosity, could it be possible to lighten these up using a frame type construction like the Varberg and turn screw / rivet the layers together?

nah not really. acrylic sheets are pretty heavy. better off doing like a carbon fiber body with small acrylic panels if you want to see the controls/trem/whatever

Man this kicked me right in the balls of nostalgia.

I had this in the clear red back around 2000. I regret selling it. It was heavy but this one actually sounded killer with the stock pups. That wan't the case for the neon green bich that was right next to it when I was trying it out at the store (guitar center on el cajon blvd back then).
Anyway, I have a recording somewhere, if I can find it i will post it.
