    Sup ssorgers,

So I've been dabbling with a bunch of grooves, and although I've found my own way to mute (or ghost note), I've yet to really get a grasp on what bands like Vildhjarta or Monuments are doing.

    For example:

The Uncollective by Monuments starts with that BAPdBAPdBAP and then immediately into a SHECKAdaSHECKAdaSHECKA. Although the sound is easy to grasp, in theory, I'd like to know PHYSICALLY how to go about conveying that noise.

As for Vildhjarta, this question might be much easier to answer; In Dagger, if you are aware of the song, there is that one break that ends in a CLICK. CLICK. and proceeds into a riff that also has a bunch of that famous clicking in between all of the thall's and stuff.

Basically, for lack of a better phrase, HOWIDODAT?

    Thanks dudes!

monuments - Groups of three - fretting a dead note - downpick (Sheck), uppick (A), and then hammer (Da) on another dead note without picking.
I never learned the song but I think that bit was fret 9 hammering fret 11?

I've just been palm muting and holding a few fingers on a string to get that chik chi-chi-chik sound. Not sure if that's how it's done, but it works for me.

Had no idea hammerons were involved. Itching to experiment with this.

This is what I've done in the past. My left hand tends to be really quick with muting the strings themselves, but it does not make up for what my right hand lacks.

monuments in the uncollectives first riff is doing this. In context with a pick.

Left Hand slapping. Not the right hand thumb technique he is doing. In thirds like ethereal explains.

I swear, if you put all of the world's problems into one lesson by Guthrie Govan, we'd be one step closer to world peace.

What Guthrie shows in that video, for the most part, is how I've gone about most traditional muting. However, I unintentionally used my hand as a singularity, and never really took the guitar player's approach of using multiple fingers. Definitely something I shouldn't have slept on.

Oh and @DLG - I think I'm going to take this a lot slower than that video. That bass player's right hand was stupid good.

Man, I'm having a bit of trouble with this kind of muting too.

Hey Noyan, you're floating around on here and I know you've done some cool muting stuff before (like in "Blackout" and a few other Carthage tracks). Got any advice, tips, or techniques?
