Glad it finally showed man, HNGD!
HNGD! I remember this guitar from before I joined SSO!
Wow glad it came through. Work looks top notch!
Man, I wouldn't last 10 years waiting for a guitar . I'm glad this finally got to you.
Bro people die in that amount of time. I would personally never knowingly buy something with more than a 2 year wait.
Kudos for your patience and happy NGD!
I know! I was worried when it started stretching along. I asked Rob before I put the deposit down how long he thought, and he said maybe a year, but he really had no idea. So I figured I'd do it. These days I wouldn't, because there's just too much up to chance. Not to be paranoid, but there's a lot of things that could go wrong on my end or Rob's end. There could be a fire at his place (happened when Shad Peters was building me a guitar, and the fire ate my guitar), Rob could run into health problems with his hands, I could run into health problems with my hands, etc., etc. But, it's still a super cool guitar to me, and I'm glad I did it, and I'm glad it's here!
Is this the longest SS,org custom order?
Great to see it finished and in your hands!
There are a few of us that were in this batch, so I'm not sure if I'm the last or not. I probably did have the craziest options, so it wouldn't surprise me if I was the last one out, but I'm not 100% sure.
That thing is absolutely nuts. Congrats!!!!
I'm in the 7 Scale run which I think came after, but around the same time. I've had recent contact with Rob too so seeing yours completed gives me more confidence that I will join the 10 year club soon
But if it was just the Japan flag it would just be big hole in the guitar! jk.
Ba dum tss
Acoustics are the real Japan-themed instrument!
But ya, I know the imperial one is a cool design and this is just a guitar, so not hating like it has real consequences. But FYI for those guys outside of asia, it's not unlike a swastika, and within Japan it is still used by hate groups. It's the flag flown on cars which drive through azabu-juban every weekend blasting from loudspeakers:
~"Koreans go home. Koreans you are not wanted here" or "Batter and kill Koreans who are anti-Japan. Burn all South Koreans living in Japan"
Geez, I had no idea about all that. How come all the bad stuff always looks so cool?
Ah, everyone chooses cool stuff to go to war with (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_hussars), but then those symbols are hard to separate from the atrocities of war.
The thing particular to the swastika or to the imperial japanese flag that I think keeps it lingering as a taboo symbol is how much racial hatred is behind those atrocities. I don't think anyone would have ever called for retiring the US or UK flags for meeting on a battlefield, all lined up, exchanging fire in turns before one side's men had been sufficiently depleted for the commanders to say, "All righty then, good show today - see you on the battlefield tomorrow though!"
Whole thing reminds me of this though:
Nailed it! My first skateboard when I was 5 years old was a called a Kamikaze with that flag on the bottom. I ate pavememt plenty of times on it.
Thanks for the idea, rats anus is now at the top of my list for inlay options.
That actually works well!
Esp "good choce, it's the year of the rat, and of course we can do that, it will be 20k however"
Eh, I'll wait for the year of the dragon.
