This is my first gen KS7 i got back in late 2013. Im a huge Unearth fan and when my local music store got it in, i put it on Layaway straight away. Over the years my taste in necks has changed as im super into bolt ons and natural finishes now so i decided to sand off the neck paint and oil it. It's a shame that this was hiding under the laquer for so long!

Looks great! Also whoa, I didn't know the Evertune was already made in 2013! Unless that's a mod.
thanks man! I actually could be confused and actually got this in 2014, the serial on the back starts with a 13 though. i know this was like one of the very first guitars with one though, Ken was an adopter of the Evertune bridge pretty early on. I love evertune man it's one of the few products out there that actually does everything it promises \m/

In before someone mentions all the lost tone due to a missing truss rod cover...

How thick was the paint/lacquer? Did it change the neck carve much?
HAHAHA oh boy 😂 and it wasnt super thick, i was able to get it of by hand with some sandpaper, and the neck carve stayed relatively the same. Kind of your standard Esp/ltd profile. Kinda roundish but pretty thin and comfy

Dude that guitar is sick though! are you referring to the one with the floyd and reverse headstock? I ALMOST bought that instead of my recent Charvel lol and Yeah man, just a couple light coats of Tung oil on the back! sometimes i'll lightly go over it with a little 0000 steel wool just to keep things nice and smooth always. I do that on all my necks pretty much

Update : She's recieved some upgrades this past week! Emg 57-7 and 66-7 pickups in chrome and Tone Ninja locking tuners in satin chrome! For anyone curious the Tone Ninja tuners are exactly like Sperzels, except they have a normal screw pattern so modding needed. Can't say enough good things about them! also replaced the pickup rings with the flat ones from Emg (the og ones broke a long time ago and i replaced them with some cheap ones from amazon and they never looked quite right) and some chrome screws just like it had stock.
Also, check out Emg Factory Outlet on reverb if you're looking for some new pups. Scored these "B-stock" for $66 a piece. Total steal! :hbang:
