So, I bought the Tele earlier this year to check a few things. Pretty obvious where the inspiration came from The mods: - refret with SS Jumbos (Plek) - 18"-20" Radius - ColdSweat neck and Black Dog bridge - WD bridge - Harley Benton locking tuners* - Pickguard The deal was good enough to overlook a few cosmetic things I'm normally not into, like the rosewood/black combination, but I'm really glad I wen't through the "trouble" because this is hands down the best sounding guitar I ever had. Eyb is better known for his Basses but this thing resonates and sounds just right (for me, of course)! *HB Tuner: Out of interest order, they work really well but do feel a lot differently to M6 or Hipshots, a bargain none the less for a third of the price of the others... Oh yeah, they work so well together! It was a test run for an upcoming build and now I‘m a little bit concerned to put the Black Dog in a swamp ash body, it slays in this alder body, but it could be a little harsh for my taste in swamp ash (maybe Holydiver?!). It will hold me over till my build is finished. 12-14“ is too round for my taste and 20“ a tad to flat in the lower register but otherwise perfect, 18-20“ was an experiment and suits me very well.
black dog can be a bit bright in swamp ash, though i think it works well. I had one in my swamp ash 8 string and loved it. Holy diver should work well in swamp ash and will beef up the sound a bit.
The only thing that leaves me a bit concerned is the output, I really like lower output pickups (atleast in the bridge). My other choice would be the Impulse set, which I really like, but it will not work well, aesthetically.
