LOS ANGELES (AP) — A new Jimi Hendrix album is coming March 5.
The musician's website says "People, Hell and Angels" contains 12 previously unreleased tracks recorded in 1968 and '69.
Rolling Stone revealed the album cover on its website Wednesday.
Hendrix recorded the songs apart from the Jimi Hendrix Experience as he considered new, experimental directions for his follow-up to "Electric Ladyland." He plays keyboards, percussion and a second guitar on the album.

While I doubt that Hendrix' estate would have let a masterpiece sit in the can for all these years, it should be interesting if there indeed is material way different from what he's known for.

According to Miles Davis' autobiography, Hendrix was also planning to do a big band collaboration with Miles. Remember that this would be Miles' Bitches Brew era, which can be pretty "raw".

Very interested to hear what this sounds like.

Are there any more details on this? Like, reasons why it woudln't have been released? From that article you have no way of telling if it's just like some crummy demos of stuff that's already been released which no one considered to be worth releasing, or if this was found sealed in some vault and is a lost masterpiece.

    I wouldn't get too excited.

There's probably a reason this hasn't been released yet.

I wouldn't want someone to go rummaging through my scrap pile of ideas after I'm gone to release crap I didn't release for good reasons.

If they need to add drums, bass (can be Jimi btw) and so on...
I just wish to listen to the 12 original tapes recorded by Jimi as a bonus

I'm a fan but I just don't want that anymore:

Hey guys I have a doubt about the previously unreleased tracks.

I wonder if the album can be based on the tapes given by Jimi Hendrix to Mitch Mitchell and forgotten for almost 20 years

Hendrix playing a Martin acoustic guitar??!! The rather well known "Black Gold" project ( "BG*" from the hand of Jimi).

Normally 16 tracks but may be some aren't exploitable

Here's a sample. Note at the end [@3:26] the beautiful intro to "Drifting" acoustic version.... :)scream:I want more!)
Note also that the poster of this audio file didn't make any reference to Jimi in the title such it remains quite underground, 2 years after.
