I while back I was asked to build a 12 string bass.
Basically the customer was a big guy(6'6") with a low voice who likes 12 string acoustic guitars and he wanted one that was in scale with him so we came up with this.
Its a 30.5" scale 12 string tuned E to E an octave lower than a regular 12 string guitar. This thing has a huge tonal range that almost blew my mind.
Its made from carbon fibre but we have fused a maple veneer to the top for looks. Carbon is the only way to build instruments like this. The carbon allows me to build a top and neck strong enough to support the huge tension yet is still responsive enough to allow the treble notes to sing.

Normally I'm not to keen on acoustic guitars, but this and your fanned 9 string are gorgeous. Possibly the most gorgeous acoustics I've seen.

I have wanted this exact thing, except as an electric, for a long time! People told me it couldn't be done, for some reason, but here we are! Awesome!

What i have seen from emerald guitars have left me with major wood for wood,if you kow what i mean!

I love the tuner layout being grouped instead of bunched into the traditional HOLY CRAP LOTSA TUNERS! Thing.

    Awesome work!

I'm in the middle of my physics class! This might be classified adult material by my music teachers if they see this page on the school web register... FU-
(An obviously bad joke, good guitar nonetheless)

But if I might ask stupidly, is it tuned like a regular 12-string, or is it tuned with 2 complete string sets in octaves? That would give an effective tonal range of almost 6 octaves!

Like a 6 string guitar with each string doubled an octave down. So lime a 12 string tuned down an octave, but with the high B and E being octaved as well, instead of doubled.

Yes its got octaves on all strings. So its got a full bass range and the full guitar range
I thought it couldnt be done until I tried but it sounds glorious.

Wow! VERY cool! I've never played a 12 string baritone guitar, but I did play an 8 string Taylor baritone guitar (with a 27" scale length) at a local guitar shop. It was a beautiful sounding guitar, and a lot of un to play to boot! If I'd had enough money, I would have bought it. I bet the 12 sting baritone has the same kind of cello-like overtones to it soundwise.

Unbelievably cool. Very very innovative. I really like where you guys are coming from. This is the kind of thing they'll dig up 500 years from now and say that aliens came here and started making guitars with their technology.
