Hi guys, I'm really GASing for a Douglas SR-370 which has a locking trem. What I want to know is if I could fit a .070 string in the saddle and on the locking nut. I only own fixed bridge 7 strings and have them all equipped with .070's and love it so hopefully I can do that with this guitar.

Shouldn't have a problem. Wait for someone with one of these guitars to chime in.

I've never tried that particular guitar, but I once put a 70 on a floyded sixer and it fit just fine.

Should be perfect, yeah :) I used a .70 in my 7240 for ages and it fitted just fine.

ORLY? I remember putting 0.60 into esp sv failed with scale adjustment. You may even need to move the floyd further away to extend the scale, either you simply cant adjust the intonation.. dont be so sure about putting heavy gauges so easily..

I don't find scale a problem considering I've got a .074 gauge string on a 24.75" scale esp ex-50 and it intonated just fine.

You might not be able to get the string through the tuner without some drilling. I had a .70 in my L00mis for a while, but since it was just a one-off try, I went for a bass string because they get slimmer in the end. You've to cut away the ball anyway, so it doesn't matter which one you're using, bass or guitar strings. BUT the bass string wasn't as clear and bright sounding and it also cost 10x more...

If it doesn't fit in there... I wouldn't worry about getting a drill if you don't already have one... a small round file and about 3 mins will do the trick.

I never did it with that particular guitar, but a .070 used to be my go to string for a low B and low A# and it worked fine with my other guitars with a Floyd.

I use a .70 on all my 7s for the low A string. The 7420 has a floyd-esque trem on it, and I've had no problems. :yesway:

A .070 should be fine. I've used up to a .080 in my LFR and it held the string just fine.
