You're a fan of '90s-'00s Ibanez, but dislike more recent Ibanez models because they lack a feature (SS frets) that didn't exist in the '90s or '00s. What am I missing?
I will be seeing Carcass on Tuesday. Have seen them a few times before, but only at open-air festivals.
I was also hoping to see Suffocation at the same venue later this month, but they've just cancelled their European tour. That's pretty gutting, because almost no established metal bands...
What makes this a particularly surprising spec for a Prestige model is that its production overlapped with this J. Custom model that has identical identical specs other than a couple of aesthetic differences (different top + 'Tree of Life' inlays). I know there are other differences between...
It's good to see an increase in hardware options, rather than simply a couple of new finishes.
I was surprised to see two new HSS Prestige RGs, after the shift to mostly HH (rather than mostly HSH) models in recent years. I guess the HSS Koa-topped Premium model (with the exact same pickups as...
For those who do like the "paint over wood" on the PGMs...I think the black and gold looks perfect. Relatively understated compared to some PGM models, but still flashy enough to not look out of place on stage with Paul Gilbert.
And with our hands! :shred:
The D Activator bridge is definitely not scooped - it has more presence in the mids than bass or treble. However, like @TheWarAgainstTime as already said, it does have a less exaggerated mid-hump than the Titan.
I haven't tried Illuminators, but that's what DiMarzio recommended when I asked their customer services to suggest a "slightly less bright alternative to D Activators". That was regarding the 6-string variant though.
The Titan bridge is a a modified D Activator bridge, so the D Activator is...
The Crunch Lab has plenty of bass, but is actually a prime example of a DiMarzio bridge model that is relatively dark but has significantly more low-mids than bass. Tone Zone has tons of bass and low-mids.
You find guitars with a floating trem generally sound darker than fixed bridge?
Relatively dark pickups, like the Tone Zone and Crunch Lab, are really popular for Ibanez RGs to compensate for the brightness imparted by the Edge trem.
