Loved the sound in the mix, some skilled production there. Less so isolated, but - SLO alternative? Is it a SLO clone? It didn't quite strike me as SLO tone. And does the SLO preamp cascade? I thought the normal and overdrive knobs were for two separate channels, but here I saw you...
I have a really hard time putting it into words but I think they lack a lot of character and richness in the upper mids/ maybe highs, so a sort of "roundness" comes out in a lower mid emphasis. Basically what I really have a hard time imagining an aristides doing is a great classic les paul...
I literally bought a used 060s from a guy in the US, to whom I asked, "it's no inlay, right?" "yea, no inlay". It arrived in Japan... guess what it had. Yes, an inlay! Even though it was that ghosted black epoxy one, I still was irritated by the whole thing and wound up selling the thing at...
I mean, AI does make it hard to compete at a mediocre level. But so do skilled humans. Music industry has always been pretty much winner takes all so I'm not sure what has changed except there will now be a "you must be at least this good / original" to be a blip on the radar.
On the other...
Sure, but there is another company that uses a lot of other people's things for a program that they then charge money for. It's called Google. It processes images and data that is copyrighted, into models that are used to serve up suggested pages. So you have to argue why it's okay to train a...
I mean you say there's differences, but really what is the difference? A human takes in art over their lives, including some of artist style X, and then is asked to generate some new image in style X for commission, and does it to the best of their ability, generalizing from what they know...
It depends on what you mean by "consistent". There's too many variables with customs. If you find a recently made version of exactly the same model, neck carve, bridge, scale, pickups, fret size, woods, then obviously you're pretty close. But there's plenty of opportunity for some important...
I'd love to but uhh.. maybe I need an updated photo because there's no floorspace at the moment :D Even less than before. If I can shave 1cm off the height of my pedal board and the stuff on it, I can slide it under these shelves and that's a huge win. At this point, I'm probably willing to...
Nice, yea I like those. The thing about my shelves is tha they're nice, but they're not that adjustable, and not a great height spacing for amps. I have almost 30% wasted vertical space in each one, so at this point, probably losing 3 amps+ in terms of what could be up there.
The good thing...
They make these shelving brackings with one "tier" extra on top. Was kind of tempted!
Yea, honestly prior to this, a lot of guitar stuff was lying around, but I think it looked like I had ~10 amps. With everything up on display, it does feel a bit foolish!
Jon still seems to find time to...
Ha, yea, but on the other hand I haven't started with the combo amps for other spaces excuses yet :D
Thanks for the link. These can be pretty stable though, I just have all the stabilizer X-bar things in storage. Even that's not going to really solve the possibility of it toppling over, now...
Not sure it's worth posting a thread, but my weekend's basically shot planning and half-implementing this. Over the past few years, the amp collection has ballooned from ~8 to ~25, while my apartment has remained exactly the same. It's got basically one room, and I've watched how every inch...
I've got one. It's darker and smoother than typical 81/85. It's kind of like an EMG parallel axis. I'm not loving it in the rest of my setup, but it's pretty good.
I like the video message overall, but I think he overlooks a few remaining variables that are absolutely crucial to reproducible and comparable live sounds.
Really the only solution is that everyone wears headphones during the show. Dialing in tone for the recorded sound is meaningless if we...
