Thanks! There are certain aspects of each that work really well. I think the look balances much better with the smaller main bevel + the smaller one by the controls, but I do think most will find the O.G. Aries forearm comfort better. It'll be interesting to see if the A2's improved (IMO) neck...
They wanted to build a specific quantity for launch builds for marketing, and I was offered the last slot. :) I didn't know what it was exactly yet, only that it was very Aries-like. :) I actually even sent in 3 variations of specs, and said, "Chef's choice" so when I unboxed it, I didn't know...
The!
Weird, no mine has 3. It's got 10s, and tuned to E standard, in case that info helps you at all.
Correct. The 6 string comes in 25.5", 26.5" and multiscale 25.5"-26.5", and this is the 25.5".
Here are a few side-by-side comparison photos with the original Aries.
A 2016 Aries is the red one, and the 2023 A3 is the purple and black limba one.
Here is a comparison of the two neck heels. You can see that the A2 heel is much more sleek. The break angle is slightly curved, rather...
The finish: I was aiming for dark, and I knew there was a risk that it could be TOO dark, but this is goddamn perfect.
It arrived the most in-tune of any guitar I've ever had shipped, despite this being the first trem-equipped guitar I've had shipped to me in 34 years of playing guitar...
I've been playing guitar since 1988, and Dean has never seemed anywhere near "the spotlight" for me. Below Washburn, which I only ever saw new in stores that didn't sell Gibson or American Fenders.
A crud catcher. But honestly, it works really well. The idea is that less surface area = less friction. Maybe it's not exactly mathematically equal, but it's effective.
On the 5 and 6 string straight scale, there's not enough room on the back of the body for the rear jack for the highest strings string-through ferrule. So for that string, you'd need to have the high string through the bridge, not the body.
Now...the 34-37" multiscale also needs to be...
Yeah, they usually put it on the 24th, but a couple of their inlay options have an inlay in the 24th, so in those cases they pull the serial number back one fret.
They've done that for a couple of decades in some cases. In order of likelihood for Kiesel/Carvin serial number placement:
1) Output jack
2)...unless it doesn't use their standard or two-output piezo rectangular plate, like the strat-style jacks, the small plateless barrel-style jacks, or their...
The 6 in the comparison pic from the previous page has a bit of EBMM Majesty to its outline, though perhaps only when compared to the existing Aries.
Here's an example of their new green-to-purple color shift:
A couple phone screenshot comparisons (not exactly to scale)
OG Aries on the left, A2 on the right
Also, two new paint colors:
1: Acid Green (a free color)
2: green to purple colorshift
New A2 (Aries 2.0) model
Guitar and bass
More subtle forearm bevel, and smaller lower edge bevel (a littlw bit like the K) for better visual balance and the burst finishes look a bit more symmetrical
Rear-mounted jack
Re-shaped, contoured neck heel with a curved slope and break angle...
You
Not by choice, my girlfriend watches it when I'm doing other thing, but I catch bits as I walk past. Goddamn, is that show annoying. I'm sure someone's done it, but I hope someone's done a supercut video of the antagonist's awkward silences after being told or asked something, while his...
