So it has all of the ReValver amps from version 4 ? I seem to recall it being ok but that was years ago and something tells me all of the 'deep editing' ReValver had won't be in the Headrush (ie: changing the plate voltages of the pre/power tubes, bias, etc...).
Exactly. He could have just as easily used a Danelectro Transparent OD, Visual Sound Drivetrain, etc... and gotten very similar results. It just so happens that he picked the Bad Monkey, probably not because it sounds so amazingly close to a Klon but because it was just a super cheap od pedal...
I got one for $50 or so CDN several years back when the local store was blowing them out. I had heard they were good for using with a bass, so I snagged it.
Here in Canada, even a Quad Cortex is $2,500. I doubt Gibson has anything to do with the pricing. Literally everything has skyrocketed in price over the last couple of years, so whatever astronomical price they are charging for it, would have been the same had they even not been bought out.
Rivera seems to be one of the companies that gets very little attention in the amp sim world. I've seen all kinds of vst models of VHT, Diezel, Engl, etc... but I don't think I've seen a single amp sim of a Knucklehead or any such Rivera.
Has cheesy as Chapman or Rabea may have been, they knew how to dial in a decent high gain tone. Sadly, between Lee, Pete and whoever else they throw in, all they really know how to dial in is blues/classic rock. They would think that if something isn't that good, they just wouldn't demo it but...
That's the thing, for me, I don't need all of the effects that are in the Stomp and here in Canada, the Tonex is almost half the price. If it's possible to get similar amp tones from this that the Helix has, it's exactly what I'd be looking for. Like some have said though, if it's solely based...
So for those that don't have amps to profile, how would this rate as a stand alone amp modeler (vs say, a Pod GO) ? I don't need all the effects that current boards have, so are there enough decent patches available in the ToneX library that you can load into it that would make it worth it or...
Yeah, Strymon pedals are not exactly 'budget friendly'. When they said that this one is more 'affordable', technically they weren't lying because (at least up here it is) the Cloudburst is about $25 cheaper than a Blue Sky (v1). The v2 of the Blue Sky is $520 !! But yeah, the 'ensemble' effect...
Same here... I already have a Big Sky as well as an HXFX board and an Earthquaker Afterneath (v3). As cool as the demos are and as much as I would like to play around with one, they're selling for $385 CDN, so I can't see myself shelling out that kind of cash just for the 'one trick' that I...
I was thinking, that since a vst is digital, it only makes sense that a capture of it would be the best possible scenario for something like the ToneX. I would think the routing would be the hardest part to figure out. If you don't mind me asklng, how did you manage to capture it ? I might grab...
Depending on how many amps/presets you can store, it'd be super tempting to pick up. I already have an HX FX board that I use with a Mooer Preamp Live. The only problem I have with the PAL is tha you can only store 12 presets. Might have to keep my eye out for this when it comes out to see what...
If you watch the video, Tone King even 'highlights' that they were taking inspiration from bands that played the L.A. club scene (re: hair metal bands). I reckon their target market isn't going to be so much new players but older guys who have money to burn and are really into bands like Quiet...
Eve
Even better, when ONE tube goes microphonic or has some kind of hum, it's gonna be SUPER fun going through them one by one to find which one it is. That and once you hit your 40's, it will most certainly be an 'at home/studio only' amp because lugging it around will not be a fun prospect.
