NGD: 90s Yamaha gets a second life

Thanks everyone! This guitar really is a blast to play; I wouldn't mind giving it the heat treatment again if the neck reverts to a backbow again lmao. Honestly could get myself some more Yamahas in the future. Maybe if I could find the RGX420DZ I used to own back when I was starting... My...

NGD: 90s Yamaha gets a second life

I recently got a Yamaha RGX821D; apparently the dearest of the entire RGX line in the 90s. I scored it for $280 and I thought given what it is and the condition it is in that I got a really good deal. However, there was horrible backbow and then the truss rod was completely loose. The buzzing in...

Super cheap (and super sus) RG570

Nothing is worse than having shitty pictures all throughout. I talked to the seller and he said he got the body repainted. Maybe that explains the unusually curved horns? He does think the neck pickup/fretboard edge thing is kinda weird. I could probably arrange a test to see if the guitar's...

Super cheap (and super sus) RG570

I found a 1991(?) maple board RG570 with mystery DiMarzios (probably Evos) for $262. Seems like a no brainer for an old MIJ 570, right? But I see so many weird anomalies with it that I'm not sure about it. The binding is probably added, that's no problem. But the neck pickup looks too far from...

NGD: Ibanez UV777620 (7620 neck with UV777 body)

Seems like the locking stud wouldn't budge at all. Tried PB Blaster for a day. Got impatient and just added teflon tape to the stud. I put new 10-59 D'addarios on it and it seems like letting the strings and trem settle for a few days kind of did the trick! It returns to pitch on dives...

    Random Pics of Your Sevens

Thank you! I was a bit skeptical of it when I saw it in the marketplace, but it turned out to be really nice! Only thing it needs is some new locking bridge studs because one of the grub screws has seized up in the post, but even then I don't think I'd need to for now. The Lo Pro is still able...

    Random Pics of Your Sevens

My so called 'UV7620' and an RGMS7. Both very different guitars from different factories, but they both slay in their own way! The MIJ buddies!

NGD: Ibanez UV777620 (7620 neck with UV777 body)

Turns out my low B string detunes a bit when pulling up which then makes the higher strings go sharp. I've looked through Ibanez Rules and it turns out a lot of late-90s Edge and Lo Pro Edge tend to have thick knives that don't conform to the studs. And... It does look a bit too thick, no?

NGD: Ibanez UV777620 (7620 neck with UV777 body)

It's been a day and the set screw still doesn't budge. I wonder if WD40 isn't enough for something like this. I order some Blaster PB. Hope that does the trick. If not, I'll just wrap the stud in teflon tape for the time being until I could get my hands on brand new studs.

NGD: Ibanez UV777620 (7620 neck with UV777 body)

Trying this now. Fingers crossed! This guitar needs thicker strings anyway so I don't mind waiting.

NGD: Ibanez UV777620 (7620 neck with UV777 body)

Oh yeah, that's a good idea! Gonna do that when I do a restring. Although I don't remember much screw sticking out anyway. Also yes, I'm using a real 1.5mm alllen key.

NGD: Ibanez UV777620 (7620 neck with UV777 body)

They don't budge either way. I know you should loosen the main stud before you loosen the set screw, but it seems to not do anything. I could even move the entire stud with a 1.5mm allen wrench if the strings are off. Welp, fingers crossed my local Ibanez dealer has those parts. It seems to...

NGD: Ibanez UV777620 (7620 neck with UV777 body)

Thank you! The mysteries kind of make this guitar even better IMHO. :D It's so much better in person! The gold just sparkles for days especially in good lighting. The binding seems like the original on the UV777s, but the refinisher did an amazing job masking the binding off!

NGD: Ibanez UV777620 (7620 neck with UV777 body)

Yeah, I made that model number up. Technically, it should be more like an Ibanez RG7650 because it's an HSH with a pickguard and some other nerdy Ibanez shit. But I digress, here is my sorta Frankenstein-ish late-90s Ibanez RG7 acquisition. Apparently, the original neck of the UV777P broke and...

    Ibanez UV777P with a 7620 neck - worth it for $764?

I'm getting it this Thursday! I have to pay $17 more because the guy is from quite a far away town. But it looks to be worth it!

    Ibanez UV777P with a 7620 neck - worth it for $764?

The seller has dropped the price to $705. I would still trade two of my guitars, but now I add only $172. Should I go for it? 👀

    Ibanez UV777P with a 7620 neck - worth it for $764?

Thanks everyone! The back routing and the pearl binding does seem to match a Universe body. I just need to find out where the output jack is located at. I'll see if I could arrange for it to be played although the seller is kinda pushy about me doing the trade plus added cash because he badly...

    Ibanez UV777P with a 7620 neck - worth it for $764?

I found a '98 to early 2000s Ibanez RG 7 string. The thing is, it's sort of a Frankenbanez. It has a UV777P body (not sure what date; probably within when it had Lo Pros) and what looks to be a 1998, 1-piece 7620 neck. The body's top has been refinished to some sort of sparkly gold and the...

    NGD: 1991 Ibanez RG560

It's discoloration. The right side of the body has that greenish tint too if you get the light right. I kind of like the V2 so far. It reminds me of the Tone Zone but with less of that low mid boost. I might get it replaced for an actual Tone Zone (I do have one right now, but it's on an...
