Pau ferro is one of my favourite woods.
looks great, dimensionally stable, easy to work with, cheap.
i love this now deleted comment on the infamous run instagram post.
id get this just for the vinyl copy of the hybrid theory EP. that was my shit back in the day.
got some time to work on the neck this weekend
first step was to fix a toolpath issue
as you can see if the following picture, for some reason...
are you talking about the small groove in the carving the cnc machine did?
it's because i went with a .035" step over just to speed up the...
regardless of finish its going to brown eventually. i have a neck thats a few years old that is still purple, but its a very dark purple now.
Decided to see if i could build a neck from scratch in one day

Man, I miss my old ax7221. I would get that
did you get an increase in z height? right now im stuck at 6 strings, because i cant fit a 7 string neck under the stock z axis.

i had to make multiple profiles, then loft them, stitch the lofts, then create a patch.
Looks like a killer start to F360. Lofting the neck to headstock transition and heel to neck transition can be a royal pain in the ass sometimes.
body is RG rear with more aggressive horns and the headstock is a very modified Ibanez headstock
i just clamp the two pieces together and drill 2 1/16 holes in the excess wood, then i use 1/16" drill bits as the dowels.
then after 15-20...
yeah then its just a couple of dowels to hold the two together while you glue it.
i used a cnc tool path to flatten the neck afterwards too
finally back at it. fired up the CNC machine for the first time in months and banged out another prototype
went for a superstrat. think i've...
I’m excited to see how this turns out. A drum sander is next on my list. Getting sick of the planer tearing out my figured woods
