    SD Black Winter Worship thread

The love and worship continoues. I just put a Black Winter 7 into my Schecter Blackjack 7 from the mid 2000's, replacing a SH4-7 JB. Much more mid focus without being djenty and much tighter lowend, again without being djenty. Just a great full sound with the fat cut away. Did a little demo of...

All aboard the Black Winter Train

Last year I brought a Schecter Blackjack 7 string with decent Seymour Duncan pickups in the form of the JB-7 / jazz-7 combo. They work pretty well, but the JB-7 had to go. Sounds too scooped and too bassy. I wanted something that cuts more and is more midfocused, but not in a djent quack quack...

Belated NGD: Schecter C-7 Blackjack (from mid 00's)

Sure, but I think it took him some time before he started playing the EMG equbed once, don't think the 707 came out till like 2004 or 2005. Anyway here is a clip of Loomis playing this exact guitar with Duncans and everything. Might just have been a backup axe for the show, but still he did...

Belated NGD: Schecter C-7 Blackjack (from mid 00's)

I actually quite like the bridge. I don't own a hipshot bridge equibed guitar, but for me this feels better :) The abanolne binding and big inlays is also a no-go for me, so was surprised to find a guitar from that era without all that crap. Would still prefer black hardware over chrome, but it...

Belated NGD: Schecter C-7 Blackjack (from mid 00's)

Hi! Always searching the danish used markets, which usually don't have more than a handfull of 7 strings I came across this about half a year ago and jumped on it immidiatly since the price was a steal. 250 euro for what is arguably a 1000 euro (from new) guitar. It is a pretty old version of...

    Advice on chair for recording

Something with height adjustability without arm rest. Arm rest gets in the way when you play guitar, but also just for keyboard and mouse work they just give you a tennis elbow / tendonitis really fast.

NAD: Marshall JVM410H (and demo with BW7)

I honestly don't mind the compressed sound. At both the start and the end of the day I am gonna use the amp for metal, so not really a complaint from here in that regard. You always need to learn an amp to know how to get the most out of it. It seems the consensus here is to run the channels on...

NAD: Marshall JVM410H (and demo with BW7)

I am using an EVH 5150 2x12 with Celestion G12H Anniversary speakers. I have also found in recent times that cabinets and speakers makes as much different as the amp. Thinking about changing one of the speakers to have more options when recording. However the cabinet and speakers only really...

NAD: Marshall JVM410H (and demo with BW7)

I already found that running the channels hotter and lowering the master was the way to go, but I guess I need to try and take it further, thanks for the hint. Genereally I found that if you run the OD1 mode in orange or red mode it can really fart out on the low notes if you use too much gain...

NAD: Marshall JVM410H (and demo with BW7)

How overpriced are they? I guess this is the usual 'EU stuff is cheap in the EU, but cost an arm and a leg in the US, and vice versa' that makes Mesa stuff cost 3000$ over here. What is the logic about prefering one channel? Guess it is what you want for a pedal based setup where most of the...

NAD: Marshall JVM410H (and demo with BW7)

Hi Guys Grapped one of these used about a month ago at a great price (600 euro) which is like half of the new price. This is a very different amp to the Peavey 6505 and EVH 5153 that I own. Totally different voicing, and very much a welcome amp in my collection for recording. More pronounced...

Some memes for SS.org (Rules Posted in OP -- Please Read)

Stolen from some fb group. If it where OG I would be like 'why?' 'why should I use other tunings than standard 7 string', since I usually just put a capo on a sevenstring to play songs that are tuned down to D, C etc.

    2x12 Cab, Mesa Boogie?

So what makes the difference in the cab build if we don't think about speakers, but only the cab. Is it just oversized vs normal size vs open back etc? Say for instance I have an oversized EVH 2x12, would it sound significantly than a Mesa 2x12, orange and so forth?

Show Us Your Home Studio Setup!

@Drew how do you like the screen hight? I have the same desk, but with your mac thing the screen seems even higher than mine, and I am seriously considering going to another desk to get the screen lower, also I don't have that much rack gear, so it doesn't really seem worth the compromise

Dream Theater - Overture 1928 cover

Yeah, I think that is also why I prefer 7 strings that are 25"5 scale. A lot of people will probably think that is to short of the chugga djent stuff, but the payoff is that it makes you able to play most regular 6 string stuff pretty well. With the right pickup and amp setup it can even sound...

Dream Theater - Overture 1928 cover

A couple of people has told me that now, so I will go down this route :D Guess I struggled with getting the guitars to not be buried in the mix for whatever I was recording for the last few years, so it probably got to the point where I cranked the treble / presence waaay to much  Doesn't...

Dream Theater - Overture 1928 cover

Probably not the first nor the last cover of this song ever made  Still it is a really great song to learn to play: A bunch of easier parts that most people will nail fairly quickly and then a couple of harder parts, with the keyboard unison lead towards the end as some of the hardest as...

Absolutely nightmarish supergroups of your dreams.

Yeah I also misunderstood the thread a bit, but hey, my post got likes, so at least they can put that on my tombstone: "He misunderstood SSO threads, but they liked his post anyway" That said I do actually like Dream Theater, but the vocals AND lyrics are horrible, but I am pretty sure that...
