1. Snakewood. Dirty, Dried out, poorly cared for snakewood (not that I would know...*shifty eyes*) feels better than the best cared for ebony. Properly maintained Snakewood is in a class of it's own. Hell to work with for builders apparently though. Also, absurdly expensive. And the difference...
My Genesis Collection RG570VC didn't do the colour shift nearly as well as my Rusti Abstract Prototype or various JPs I've seen.
But also not nearly as well as the old ass XPT700RC I had back in the day so maybe the 570s were just a bad example of Ibanez colour shifting. Heh.
Intriguingly enough, if you go to the model page, the Frozen Ocean finish is one of the two available finishes.
To me, it's not nearly as interesting as the colour shifting paint, but to each their own.
Ibanez should bring back those "Special Flames" inlay from the PRS knock off SZ line.
The rest of the line can fuck off but those inlays where the perfect mix of super cringe but unique and having that *pop*.
If Ibanez wants to pry open my wallet for a new guitar again they're gonna have to drop a prestige Xiphos 6 and/or 7.
So, I'll have to stick with the custom market for my ostentatious guitars. *sigh*
421 by itself will be lacking in oomph, but if you pair it with a 57 you get a pretty devastating tone.
Throw one's LDC, or SDC in this case, of choice on a different speaker in the cab and blend to your heart's desire in your DAW or what have you.
I like 421s and U87s on guitar cabs, although one could argue that the 421 is nearly as common as a 57.
Given the advantages of SDC I don't really see the point of them on a guitar cab, but if it gets a sound you like, it's a win.
The KxK I owned was absolutely brilliant. Only reason I don't own it anymore is because my entire life completely fell apart in the early 2010s.
Easily on par with any of the numerous high end guitar brands and custom builders I've owned and played.
The one my friend still owns is a monster...
Most are on rack stands with 2 single guitar stands for whatever I am using currently/most for the immediate song/project that I am playing/writing/working on/etc.
Cases to me, are for protection when the guitars leave the house.
Which, thinking about it just now, is actually pretty damn...
As someone who taught for a decade or so, the second teacher is actually throwing a pretty traditional learning methods at you as well. Seems to be in the more advanced realm than the rather basic ( based off your description) stuff the first teacher was giving you.
The first teacher certainly...
This was around 5-6 years ago, when Perry just happened to offer a bunch of runs around the same time he was going to be starting the GTR line. Gotta raise that capital somehow. Pretty sure all the guitars from the various runs that started around then still haven't been delivered. Very Vikish.
Also perhaps worth mentioning that a "full refund" from Perry isn't actually a full refund of the cost of the guitar paid.
He still owes me 4-5 hundred dollars or something like that that I fully expect to never see after he cancelled my order because I asked for an update, after 9 weeks of...
