I'd be interested to try it as a stand-alone preamp to a small power amp.
I'd think any demo of the original PSA would sound exactly the same.
Do you want more power or an EQ change?
Wow! My favorite guitar is a Steinberger Synapse, so I am feelin' this. I put a 59/Custom Hybrid and Alnico II Pro in mine with a super 5 way switch.
Most likely, one of the little screws in the Liberator came loose. I'd second Black Winters, or for a more modern sound, a Sentient/Pegasus set.
Can you get the Pegasus/Sentient set there? I just love their 7 string versions with all sorts of gain ranges.
The Powerstage is designed to be used with preamp pedals and full modelers. It is tiny, and really loud if you want it to be. I'd say that's the one.
I am a big fan of the Custom Custom- great for 1 guitar bands, as it takes up a lot of sonic space. It splits well. too.
The Jazz or Sentient is...
Not, actually. They have more mids than treble and bass, but the output isn't super high. Funny thing is, they sound good for a lot more than the...

If you want mids without boomy lows, check out the Custom Custom as well. It is a great pickup that occupies a huge swath of sonic space.
I have a guitar like that. I just use a Custom 5 and a Jazz, which are severely scooped pickups. The guitar sounds great now.
I like the Dark Sun and the Line 6 M-series, too.
YJM Furys are indeed stacked singles, so they are humbucking.
The Invader might not work for you- don't start with a mid-heavy sound and then EQ that out...start with something a little clearer. I'd suggest...
I love my Vapor Trail. It has an insert jack if you want to send just your delays to either another amp (fun!) or to their own chain of effects...
If you switch out active to passive, yes, you need new pots. No sound might not be the pickup, it can simply be a bad connection on the switch.
FYI, the Black Winter is one awesome baritone pickup. It has plenty of mids, and sounds great clean up to the most distortion you can throw at it.
A pickup that actually does low tunings well as falling into the medium output category is the 59/Custom Hybrid. It stays dynampic and...
The Custom 5 is a unique modern pickup that is severely scooped, and I haven't heard anything that quite sounds like it. It has its own thing...
