I have had my eye on the orange for a while, but I wasnt sure if it would be right for the job. It definitely sounds true to the orange style, which isnt great for everything.
But it definitley looks solid and very well made
and randall, yeaaa, Ive heard some really like it, and others...
Wow! great feedback
So It looks like the XXL is the winner, if I can find it.
Now I know there are other SS state amps, like randall and the orange CR 120, as well as the marshall solid state
so 2 questions,
First, are the marshall solid state heads really THAT bad? I know the...
So I was wondering which you recommend more. I owned the Ibanez head in high school along with a pretty cheap cab, but I still really enjoyed it.
However I heard about the XXL recently, and though I've never seen one at any of the local peavey dealers, the reviews seem to be very positive...
the room Im working in is about 14x16 feet with a 12 foot ceiling, its also the game room, so its got shelves and furniture on every wall as well as in the middle.
Hey all,
So I have been working on my mixes for years, and Ive gotten to where Im happy with everything, except any instrument/vocals recorded with a condenser .
I live in an apartment, and its set up normally, the room I record in has air conditioning vents, carpet floors, etc.
and...
Looks like they go for about 1100 used on reverb.
And I did look into the fender supersonic but had a hard time finding a good recording. Imma visit a few stores that are fender retailers and see what they say
Oh no they sounded great, though I couldn't find a definitive list of bands that used them or a recording in that style. I really wanted to try one. The prices I listed were from a quick eBay search. But I'll keep digging. Thanks!
Quick update, I didn't know the mark 1 would be a thousand used and the mark 2 1700$ used.
So that's out of the picture now. Maybe a future amp. So we're back to peavey. A lot of people have been saying online that the tube100 is too smooth to be used for anything heavy.
Also still looking...
Right now it's down to the JSX (if I can find one cheap),
The XXX
And some Triamp. Can't decide if mark 1 or mark 2, not sure what it all entails.
And I tried a few bad cats and they were all very vintage/80s hard rock voiced. What models have a modern tone?
Yes. Those Triamps are looking good now. I'm scouring Atlanta for a dealer to see for myself.
These suggestions are great.
I wouldn't mind a 6505/5153 someday. But I agree with the earlier statements.
But all those bands are metalcore/chug metal. And the EVH artists list is the same. Lots of death metal/black metal/shred metal.
That's not the style I'm aiming for. The closest on the EVH artist list is seven dust and maybe 5 finger death punch. But those are both still mainly chug and shred...
Where? I've been calling all kinds of places in Atlanta, including guitar center. And if the shops carry tube amps at all, it's vintage combos and lunchbox amps only.
How do Atlanta people try gear?
I'll look into the fender supersonic.
And yes the mk 3 is way out of my price range.
And i don't know if the 5153 would be right. The bands I listen to that use it are 7 dust, djent bands, and van Halen himself. And those tones are pretty different than what I'm chasing. It's the main reason...
