Thank you mr Torres! It's a battle between rosewood and granadillo right now, but it all depends on which one is long enough

Hmm I've also thought up something interesting, do you think it would be good paired with a lighter body wood as a neck through? With proper horn placement, i imagine that balance wouldn't be a problem. Also, in terms of finish, is it like rosewood and wenge? :yum:

Ooh gosh, I nearly forgot about the weight, I hope this plan works out well then. I'm thinking of buying some for an..incarnation of sorts ;)

More-so to have a good long-term instrument, since I may be moving soon.

How does Granadillo sound? would it be a good neck wood?

currently I'm trying to get money to do builds with all the wood I ALREADY have, not buy more

You've seen all the trouble that nice piece of walnut got me into...

Naaah. I'm not too worried about profit. :)

Nah, but lower costs (in theory) mean more sales. I'm making less profit, but that's totally okay. I've already broken even.

I was thinking of perhaps gluing a piece of dense foam under it, or maybe even filing grooves for the strings to follow. Thank you, nonetheless, Scherzo :metal:

Sorry, I hadn't realized you replied on your page. I have this silly idea that may make the break angle a little more..realistic (without digging the stop into the body)
The distance between the tom and the stop don't really seem to matter..I think, so it would make sense (humor me) for the strings to be string like an upside-down wraparound bridge on the stop right?, just to ensure a good break.

like that, but upside down, sure it isn't much, but it would help no?

recessing both should be pretty straightforward... I think I've seen it on a couple of axes, but can't remember which. But anyways, recessing a ToM is definately the way to go if you are installing one.

Sweet, I had thought it was! I shall soon be ordering a fine fingerboard radiussed to 16"!
another question. have you tried recessing a TOM and a Stop piece? I think it might look pretty cool. (I'm trying to keep in the spirit of my inspiration)

I am contemplating my next build. Whats the radius on most imported 7 string Toms?
