New Nolly Signature with Manson Guitar Works

I should say: in Guitarist's defence, that's just the final pro/con list so it's taking things slightly out of context - within the review they were complementary about the look and playability

New Nolly Signature with Manson Guitar Works

Hah yeah, I agree. I take it as a compliment: it seems they really had to reach to find negatives. I guess they could have said "neck shape and aesthetics might not suit fans of vintage-style guitars"?

New Nolly Signature with Manson Guitar Works

Hah, yeah fair enough. I guess I'll paste the closing remarks since Manson was given permission to post them on instagram: "It’s a superb ringing and sustaining instrument that, when paired with these Polymath pickups, creates a package that might be aimed at progressive players yet easily...

New Nolly Signature with Manson Guitar Works

Sweet, hey man! I definitely think the TOM is a key piece of the sound and resonance of a guitar, and was a must-have for the Oryx. It sounds like you really get what the guitar is about, I think you'd really like it (but of course I'd say that).

New Nolly Signature with Manson Guitar Works

Yep, Matt actually has a few Oryxes now, two identical white/multiscales and I believe he has a couple of the production spec guitars too. He used the first of the white multi scales all over their new record, apparently. I'm also really pleased that the Oryx has a major review in the newest...

Couple of videos on how pickup placement changes tone

I'm very pleased to see more people talking about the importance of pickup placement, since I think it's a utterly defining factor in the sound of an electric guitar and is responsible for a lot of heartache for guitar owners who can't figure out why a particular guitar always sounds harsh or...

New Nolly Signature with Manson Guitar Works

I missed some of the comments here about why we spec'd the guitars the way that we did. To echo MaxOfMetal and Winspear, I really wanted these guitars to sound unequivocally amazing, huge, rich in overtones and be equally comfortable for riffing, chords and lead playing. I have come to feel that...

New Nolly Signature with Manson Guitar Works

Hey everyone, it's cool to see lots of conversation here already on the Oryx! I just wanted to clarify a couple of things: - This actually ISN'T a signature model. It's a new model for the Manson range that I helped design. It's a bit of a fuzzy line to navigate but I wanted to be clear about...

Bareknuckle SILO comparison to other pickups?

A couple more points I left out of the above. The Ragnarok has symmetrically wound coils, which ensures the midrange is solid, and also uses different screws to give a more focussed and tight sound.

Bareknuckle SILO comparison to other pickups?

I'm really glad several people seemed to find my post useful, I agree that pickups are often shrouded in mystery and often direct links between specification and sound aren't made explicit. The Ragnarok bridge is wound with 45AWG, so a thinner gauge again than the 44AWG of the...

Bareknuckle SILO comparison to other pickups?

Hey Bg999, to answer your question, the big difference comparing the Silo to all of those pickups is the fact the Silos bridge is wound with 44AWG wire whereas all three of the others use 43AWG. 44AWG tends to have a characteristic dark top end and mid bump when compared to 43AWG, and is the...

Vik Duality 8 string run *CLOSED RUN*

Wow, I've not followed anything to do with Vik for many years, I'm really incensed to read what he has been up to, I'm so sorry to everyone who's been ripped off. I see he's given me light treatment on his website, though he's omitting all parts of the story where he threatened, used bullying...

    Nolly signature "Polymath" BKPs

No worries, I'm making a point to not talk too much about them unprompted because I'm aware the price tag is so exclusive and I don't want to come across like I'm bragging or looking down on other monitors. If you have a chance to audition them it's worth checking them out for the pleasure of...

    Nolly signature "Polymath" BKPs

Awesome, yeah there are very few pickups out there using UOA5. It may not be suitable for every wind but in the Polymath it brought the pickup to life Put it this way, I've never heard audio sound like this before. You can hear everything, all the time, e.g. the quietest reverb tail on a...
