    I heard the tubes in the savage are set like a lot higher than 40w each... so it outputs 120 watts and the tubes overdrive more easily... but...

    also try a mxr micro amp, set the gain to 0, it'll add a lot of articulation to your gain structure. that, combined with a compressor an overdrive...

    pickups: never tried the blackout. strings: try smaller strings, .60 is too much for drop b in my opinion... if you play really fast riffs...

    try also the mini rectifier, much more "mini" than the 5150III, and packs awesome tone. it's a bit expensive though
