Hey all! longtime lurker, recent member here. Joined to add my name to the 8 string list you guys have been building up. Name's John... out of NYC. Completely self taught guitarist since 1991. 7 Stringer since 2000 (used to use one of my 6 stringers as a pseudo 7 stringer by actually taking out the MIDDLE string and combining the lowest and highest and modding my playing to compensate until I got one. Anyways, played in a couple of bands over the years and am now workin on a new one based around some of my tunes on my myspace page MySpace.com - None Die Innocent - BROOKLYN, New York - Metal / Hardcore / Death Metal - www.myspace.com/nonedieinnocent along with a bunch of new ones I've been workin on the last year or 2. Took a break after my last band broke up, was really rough to deal with, but it's cool now. Life goes on (cue Corky Thatcher's theme song hehe) Got that vibe back so here I am saying what the hell is up with everyone????? <?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shapetype id=_x0000_t75 path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" o:spt="75" coordsize="21600,21600" stroked="f" filled="f" o:preferrelative="t"><v:stroke joinstyle="miter"></v:stroke><v:formulas><v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"></v:f></v:formulas><v:path o:connecttype="rect" gradientshapeok="t" o:extrusionok="f"></v:path><?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:lock v:ext="edit" aspectratio="t"></o:lock></v:shapetype><v:shape id=_x0000_i1025 style="WIDTH: 21.75pt; HEIGHT: 18.75pt" alt="0" type="#_x0000_t75"><v:imagedata o:href="http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/images/smilies/hbang2.gif" src="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\mccrayj\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip_image001.gif"></v:imagedata></v:shape><o:p></o:p>

Gear...Mah Marshall 900 series ....the one that goes to 20 hehe. Appropriately titled the Grindmachine because of its uncanny ability to get that ATG meets Brutal Truths Extreme era guitar sound (to me, that CD is the CD that gave modern metal its sound) when plugged direct, My demonizer pedal (for direct recording) and an old creaky ART SGX2000 to get a thrashier sound outta my amp when recording....oh and a Lexicon vortex because well, its a freakin VORTEX!! That is one tripped out box once you learn how to use it<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
Guitars. Charvels, lots of them... 2 Epiphone flying Vs.... Bubba ray and Devon because well...the 6 string is all black the other one is white and a 7 string, thus bigger than it's brother, and because I have a pretty retarded sense of humor, henceforthwith, Bubba Ray and Devon, get it? If you don't it's cool it just means you have an actual life hahaha. Then there's my other 2 7 stringers.... the ESP h307 and the BC Rich N7 black Mockingbird........always wanted a Mockingbird, finally after 17 years, got one, and a 7 string to boot. Best 200 bucks I ever spent on Ebay :) And then there's my baby, My 1981 Hamer Vector Flying V. That guitar ruled,...till its headstock got busted.....one of the worst days of my life...uh oh I'm gettin emotional now... lemme change subjects hehe.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
Former bands: Basically it was always the same band with different names over the years.. because it was my music for the most part, but would change the name when we got new members so they would all feel part of something new. Not to mention I always wanted everyone to feel equal cause that's just the kinda guy I am. Transcend===>Audio Design Concept===> Circadian====> None Die Innocent. NDI is all about an observation about how we're all born pure, yet none of us will die that way. I find it fascinating how easily a set of circumstances can twist just about anyone up and turn them into something completely different, sometimes for the better, but almost always for the worse&#8230;.scars and all.....so yeah, that's what my music is about these days blah blah blah...<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
Bands that made me wanna do what I do today as well as few I like just because I like em.......Testament (although the new one isn't anything special it's great to see them in action again) Morbid Angel, Old Entombed/Sepultura Old Candiria, Opeth, ATG, Brutal Truth, Bolt Thrower (IVth crusade anyone??) I WILL admit I'm a bit of a closet Def Leppard fan (because it's metal to like things everyone else can't stand haha) from when I was a kid (God what happened to them tho?????) Van Halen, 10 years, Samael, Necrophaghist, Type O, Tool (mine and the band), Nevermore, Foo Fighters, 311, the Gathering, UTIOG (totally metal!!! hehe) some Soilwork, Nile, some Overkill, a little Korn on the side, Alice in Chains, Forbidden (wooohoooo they're back!) Staind ..Some Bullet for my Valentine...because I'm such a wannabe trendwhore deep down hahaha OBITUARYYYYYYYYY 'cause I JUST DONT CARE!!!! AC/DC, and the Muppetts take <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Manhattan</st1:place></st1:City> soundtrack.on vinyl......because vinyl is metal. well not technically but....<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
hmm what else can I waste your time with hehehe.....eh not much else, just your normal everyday beer drinkin, finger flippin, potty mouthed, dude with a piss poor sarcastic attitude and addiction to porn, poon, blabbermouth, technerd news, the Detroit Pistons, the Steelers and Red wings, laughing at hapless Yankees/Mets fans (not the teams themselves&#8230; I kinda feel bad for them because they&#8217;re not very good and yet have such high expectations placed on them year in and year out&#8230;.same goes for New England based teams, although the Patriots loss in the super bowl was the funniest thing ever because they lost to Peytons illegitimate son Eli&#8230;Who woulda thunk inbreeding would lead to such success??? Then again he won a superbowl and I&#8217;m posting a greeting with a myspace page in tow in a guitar forum, whose the real loser right?? Hehe :) Anyways, I could go on for days but Im sure most of you have to go back to work now, like I have too. But feel free to say hey, or flame me cause your thong is riding up too hard and can't take a joke cause it hurts to laugh right now if I insulted your favorite sports team, or check out my music link above and leave some critiques good or bad. Always fun to hear other points of view. I&#8217;ll be updating my page one of these days in the near future, just haven&#8217;t gotten around to it because well, I&#8217;ve been typing this thing out all damn day hehe. Take care all J<o:p></o:p>

I didn't even read it because from the subject line, it seemed to be not worth the five minutes. ;)

    Welcome!

Funny thing, for some reason that was just a nickname given to me when I was a kid a couple years before that song came out by a couple of co-workers when I used to get riffs/rhythms in my head and would sound em out like a real gomer so I could remember them till I got home, but the fact that it's also a heavy as fuck song doesn't hurt either so JunJun it is. And yeah I also know it's a character from some japanese cartoon. Found out a year or 2 ago. That would be my luck haha, but hey whatever. All I gotta do is plug in, flip the switch on the amp and it becomes clear immediately where it stems from hehehe. Anyways, thanks to everyone here who took a minute to say hi. Was very cool of ya. Im kinda wondering if there are a bunch of people in the NYC area on this site. Gotta couple of KICKASS metal bars around me (they are linked on mymyspace page) so I'm always down for hangin out drinkin some brews and bangin out some riffs and covers and just pissing off everyone within a 2 mile radius with noise. So how bout it? Any Locals? How bout a group on the boards???
