What is the extended bass tailpiece thingy called?

    I know I heard somewhere what it's called when the saddles and bridge are hanging off the back of the bass, but for the life of me (and my google skills) I cannot remember or figure it out. This bass has it...

    No, the extension beyond the actual normal contour of the bass. Like, in the picture, there’s that whale tail type piece that sticks out behind the body of the bass, and the strings are locked in there.

    Ok, that makes sense. I can’t find any consistent name for it. I like the concept, though, because it allows for extended scale length without making the neck longer.

    I've heard fishtail indeed. Knuckle Quake integrates the idea into a standard shaped body too just making the overall body longer without a fishtail design
