Yeah, I'm almost beginning to think the gay bashing and sexist comments by Vik are decoys to take our focus off the fact that he's not giving people the guitars they've ordered. Say what you will about voting with your wallet, but I think we can agree that anyone who gives Vik money for a new order at this point is a fool. As someone who's been down the lithier road to getting screwed, this lack of customer accountability is all too familiar. I just cannot figure out why luthiers like this are so shocked that customers expect a first in - first out order process. It's just not fair to have the original guys waiting while subsequent runs are started and finished.

mphsc (I always think Motion Picture Hard Shell Case when I read your name. What does it stand for, anyway?), did you just buy that? Is that what thrsher was talking about? I didn't even know Vik had in-stocks!

now that i finally sold my vik, what a bad investment that turned out to be. i really am done with custom shop builds, its a waste of time, energy, emotions and money. production companies are catching up and for the most part anything i need is available these days.

Welp, my build has actually started a couple weeks ago or so and we shall see how long it takes for him to deliver. Hopefully not too long, but a delay probably isn't worst ting at this point as I still need to raise funds .

nothing that we do not already know! Now days a custom shop guitar built from a one-man shop or a little work shop means waiting years. But I think it's a choice that should be pondered seriously! Today there are companies like Carvin that offer excellent products at lower prices and reduced time! personally I recognize the quality but I do not like the shape of guitars! When i put my money in a vik I was conscious of the long time queue..but i decided to do this step because i really wanted that guitar! the wait was rewarded. the guitar sounds like a dream and the craftmanship is excellent!! it is clear that I had to accept the risks ... but in the end I went well! I do not blame those who prefer to invest their money and risks in company as Carvin. is a matter of choice

The norm for me is 4/8 months of waiting...a time frame that big companies like Carvin or Prs can afford to provide. alternatively small luthiers who seek to penetrate the market because little known!
if you want a vik now you have to wait more than 24 months for a custom Guitar or 18 months for a Transcendence! same thing for blackwater and sabre( a long queue)
This is the result of one man shop and too much order!
I must admit today that among the many luthiers, Perry Ormsby I think is the one that best handled the long waits...

I think what Narad means is that there are more one man shops who care more about providing a wonderful instrument than having a full queue to pad their pockets with.

Can you believe that there are builders who will reject orders because they know they won't be able to deliver in a comfortable time frame?
