can anyone confirm what he is charging now for new orders? or his quoted wait time? he does/did build great guitars, such a shame, i dont think i could ever work with him again but i would certainly loved to have ordered another build. true story, i sold my VIK for $2100 in 2015 and i recently bought it back at the same price

Congrats on getting it back. I sold all mine, and moved on. Oni has been the best to deal with and I'd order from him again in a heartbeat, his attention to detail might surpass Vik. I'm moving back into the 6 string realm.

Haven't played an Oni, but from the Viks I've played I'd hope his attention to detail is better.

The ViK's I had were killer, two NAMM 8's and a custom Caprice 8. Not sure what you played but anyway...

I never thought about that. Seeing the guy with the wall of Vik's and lads who constantly have 1-2 Aristides on order its a really good point.

I tried to get my second build going but it was even harder than my first so just had to walk away. In the future I'd probably just grab one from Reverb if I was looking for one since there's a lot to choose from.

The recent surge of used Vik's is interesting. I know Marquette studios has had his for a while, and I don't see them moving.

These supposed holy grail customs aren't holding up to the test of time. Have ya'll seen how cheap KXK's can be had for?! It's absurd.

I see Carillion prospering , just because all those builds are problem free, impeccable pieces of wood. I'd also stay on the lookout for these Vandermeij guitars . Incredibly easy to work with, reasonable build time , and prices.

I agree. The ViK I owned and the many I've played all had really poor finish work. At $2k they're a great buy. At $3k they're a mediocre buy. At anything above that it's just not worth it.

I will say my caprice (gloss) has better finish work than a lot of other gloss viks I've seen (which are older ones), so he may have gotten better or he may have just given a damn on that one. Still, there's a very long list of builders in that price range that do far superior, or essentially perfect finish work.

Damnit Narad, your Caprice is so gorgeous. I'm saddened no one else has made a similar shape; it's just such a curvaceous figure. I've been battling my urge to have Chris or someone else build me a bespoke tribute but I've got a few more customs coming my way and I fear for my safety.

I really like the Huber Redwood Dolphin -- something to look at. He doesn't usually put f-holes in it, but he does semi-hollow, so the internal construction would be similar. To skip lines / actually get an instrument from Vik, the price for that is probably similar to Nik's, and Nik has like two decades of great customer service and similarly awesome woods.

Narad's Caprice is extremely nice, one thing is that it doesn't inspire playing material that you'd normally play on a semi hollow. It had the feeling of a slightly thicker solid body electric, definitely better made than my Duality 6.

Yea, it's a pretty small body after all, and still center block construction. Not far off a Hollowbody II, but even that is larger inside as the center block is restricted to just the bridge area.

i have no clue what people did, certainly deposits, i would imagine some probably made some payments towards builds, but no one that was in the runs have spoken up about it.
