I don't know how I didn't hear about this earlier (Thanks That Metal Show!), but Vince Gill did a stellar cameo guitar solo on Alice Cooper's new album. Heck, I own this album and I was thinking that it was John 5 the whole time. That's the problem with buying digital copies. The liner notes seem less important. Man, I miss records! Oh well... Anyhow - Who'd have thought that Vince would have been down to shred on a metal album!? That's awesome. According to Alice, they recorded the album in Nashville, but they needed a last minute guitar solo and gave Vince a call. He stopped in and strapped on his telecaster and blasted a solid piece of metal! I have listened to Vince for years and never heard that side of him. Good stuff and pleasantly surprised. Anyone else have any nominations for awesome (but not totally obvious) cameo appearances? I'm thinking Nuno with Rihanna is another contender. Yet, I dug the solo, but not so much the setting in that case.
