    I recently picked up a used 5150 signature model for $400. After some messing around i found it wasnt quite for me, it just seemed a little overly.... fizzy. Also it seems to have some issues with gain and volume just dropping off on their own. Maybe just and easy fix? So now i have this guy offering up his eclipse II in flamed red for a trade, should i do it???:ugh:

    Is it an actual ESP or is it an LTD? If it's an ESP give it a good look and if it looks legit take it and RUN!.

    Its an actual esp, going to have to look it over good for sure, maybe chedk the serial number and all.. I already own an ltd-ec1000 VB, so thats why im a little hesitant to get nearly the same guitar. Not sure how much better it really is going to be. However i think im going to take your advice and run with it hahaha.:shred:

    You'll be taking that back once you get your hands on it :cool: real ESP's are the bomb. And that's almost too good of a trade on your end if the neck on the ESP isn't warped or it doesn't have anything wrong with it.

    This. The guy either doesn't know what he has or something may be wrong with the guitar.

    I would do that trade without any hesitation for an Eclipse II. If that shit isn't broken you're getting an insane deal.

    Thanks for the input guys i really appreciate it. Youve helped me make my decision, and after a few emails ive set up the trade. The guitar seems to be a 2006 according to the serial number and only has a small chip on the back of the headstock. The only thing that confused me is this, the serial number location meaning of the letters:K = Kiso (Japan)
    S = Sado (Japan)
    T= Takada (Japan)
    SS = Signature Series or Standard Series
    CH = Craft House
    CS = Craft House (used rarely)
    TH = Technical House
    N = Nagano

    This one appears to be SS.....so where was it built?

    Standards were built in Japan.
    Even though its too late now, if you're getting volume drops on the 5150 it probably needs some fresh tubes. I would suggest telling the person you're trading with that you just got the 5150 and you suspect new tubes are needed.

    Assuming the ESP is in good condition that is a KILLER deal for you.

    To echo everyone else, you're getting an insane deal as long as there's nothing glaringly wrong with the guitar :yesway:

    If nothing else you could flip the ESP for quite a bit more than you bought the 5150 for and get another amp, guitar, etc.

    Some just get lucky, I once traded my Epi LP Custom for a Gibson Studio, sure it needed a new nut but still it was a killer deal.

    It's just a Standard Series built at their production factory in Japan, not sure where that would be. All the other serial designations are for their various custom shops. I'd do the deal if I were you!

    if he's happy with the amp, and nothing is wrong with the guitar, do it

    even if you don't want to keep the guitar, you could easily double the $400 you dropped on the amp

    I've seen both items sell for the same amount several times, so I wouldn't say this is an incredibly uneven trade. However, I would rather have the ESP.

    I'd trade for the esp, because you are sure you don't like the 5150. Make sure you explain the issues the 5150 has so you don't .... the guy though.
