Tom had, at one point, pitched a super short scale to rock two higher and two lower strings, but I am not sure if that is still on the table.

I am not sure how potential buyers are spilt on the short vs. long scale issue either. I'm definitely all for short. No interest in a super long scale guitar.

If we did TWO higher strings, is that even possible? Are we thinking D5? Wouldn't that require like a 17" high end?

I would tune it in 4ths from E to Db5. I think you could get away with a 10 in fan and it would still be totally playable......especially with the perp fret at the 9th fret. You aren't gonna be doing barre chords on that but I don't think you but this guitar to do barre chords. It would be the ultimate riffing and lead machine IMO. I don't understand why metal players don't tune in 4ths. Almost everything they play is power chords and single note riffs anyways. 4ths tuning makes the guitar so much easier!! Just my .02 on all of this of course.....:hbang:

I really like layered body thing. I have given this sort of construction a lot of thought in the past. You could actually cut out each layer on a laser to save time and screw them together. The construction would be quite efficient.

Yeah, that would be cool. And then we could just program a couple of different options for the neck, so maybe the shorty guys could have theirs, the long scale guys theirs, etc.

like the idea just add more curves to your design to make it blend.
