Loving the black metal vibes in the intro. They totally deliver live too. One of the tightest bands I've seen, and Teras is a hell of a pit song.

You know- I don't really go for metal with this style of vocal, but checked out a vid the other day and found myself quite liking it. I will check out more... :)

I never heard of sylosis until I saw them open for lamb of god. If you cut them open they would bleed pure talent I was impressed.

All I can think of in regards to Sylosis is "What the actual Hell?".

Smallest backstory in the history of backstories: I was a huge Trivium Fanboy up to and including Shogun. After that not so much and after Vengeance not at all.

Sylosis came right at that moment. In fact they released their debut the year Shogun came out and thus I didn't pay too much attention to them. After In Waves, which was Hit/Miss for me I came back to them and instantly fell in love.

They have the fantastic quality to stay strong to their roots and yet always include new ideas on every record. Right what I loved about Trivium til In Waves.

And now they release this new track.

Anyone remember the pre-hype about "Silence In The Snow" by Trivium, before the first track was released? The title, the concept, Matt Heafys musical preferences. Everything finally screamed Black Metal meets Modern Metal.

What did we get? Another Modern Metal by Numbers record.

And now comes "Different Masks on the Same Face" by Sylosis. This song is more Silence In The Snow than every track on that record.

God damn it. I'm blabbling. But in fact. All I have to say about Sylosis these days is "What the actual Hell? I love this band."

The first section of the song is good, but gets a little boring as it goes on.

All their albums have been really solid to date. Conclusion of an Age and Monolith are amazing...

Last Remaining Light is an awesome track...

Yea Monolith and Edge of the Earth are two of my all time favorites. I think they've definitely tightened up a lot since Edge. I'm sure that album is extremely taxing to play live. I love What Dwells Within and Awakening are probably my two favorite tracks. Still waiting for them to get some US dates in my area.

So Josh Middleton's Solo Album is out today... I can't get to it here at work but I'm going to pick it up when I get home. Looks to be pretty solid, like there was any doubt.

Wish this was on Spotify or something. If I buy it and download, can I add it to my Spotify library some how?

I just discovered these guys a few days go via Apple Music's "You May Also Like..."

They were correct. Absolutely loving them.

Let us know how it is, I'm tempted to buy it, but got so much music to buy right now. The clips sound fantastic so far. Any vox on the album?

Kind of has an old school Opeth feel to it (the overall tune).

    Totally agree with you!

I'm really digging that track JD posted. :shred: I mean I'm not really surprised it slays though.

So does anyone know the status of Sylosis? I recently saw Josh say on Instagram that he was unemployed and needed cash (https://www.instagram.com/p/BFE2ypLja2m/?taken-by=joshsylosis&hl=en 5th comment).

I realize that Sylosis isn't a big earning band as such, but labeling himself as unemployed as well as coming out with a solo project?

Doubt it is anything to do with Sylosis, I'm sure he has to work when he is not on tour. Just the reality of most metal bands anymore. You hear all the time about guys quitting so they can have stable income.

I think the album's pretty awesome, it looks like Josh is doing skype lesson's as well now... and I'm a giddy little school girl. Like JD27 said, probably trying to fill the void while on tour. I picked mine up later in the evening and if the website was keeping track I was around #2100 to buy it so... hopefully he's stable for a while since he self financed the album.

Not sure how serious his comment is, but he is also now endorsed by ESP I think so that might also have something to do with the selling.
