The first two Elitas are complete. Three more to go!
that orange sparkle is so sweet man, great stuff.
Rabble rabble rabble... Another Elita run!
Both look great, but I think I'd go with Pat's if I had to choose.
My Elita got delivered yesterday! Here's my initial NGD - http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/standard-guitars/297556-ngd-sully-guitars-elita.html
Back from paint!
My customer already has a Galaxy V with an oiled neck, so since this one was fully finished, I asked him yesterday if he wanted a satin finish on the back of the neck. He was down with it, so I knocked that out after leveling the frets:
and then.... (noANDTHEN!) I noticed a smiley face in the grain. Cracked me up.
As it is now...
What a beauty!
Beautiful work! What did you use to rub the neck gloss down? Fine sandpaper and steelwool?
Nah, just wetsanded with 1200 grit.
Man, that is a SHARP build! You've done good there, Sully. Love those tuners. Gold Floyd?!?!
3pc maple neck thru/set thru into a mahogany body with maple cap. Rosewood fretboard, MOP hollow block inlays, stainless steel frets, rosewood headplate (and back) as well as matching truss rod cover. Tortoiseshell binding all around the guitar with ivoroid binding at the position markers. Pickup is a secret menu Habanero from Grover Jackson's Habanero Guitar Parts, volume knob is push/pull to split the coil, Gold floyd with big block upgrade from FU-tone and Hollow point intonation system. Urethane finish with the back of the neck satin.
That's an amazing V!
that floyd route...so tight! i love it.
I've got a bunch going on, but here are some highlights:
I had a 1:1 build class last week, and my student built this in six days.
Since it was a 7 day class, I put her to work on day 7. Hooray for binding scraping monkeys!
Carved top '71 #1 in clamps.
And getting the heel contoured out. Because clunky heels are for jerks.
This quilt topped '71 over limba body and neck...
Then there's this one....spanish cedar body and a koa top. It has 2ply tort/white binding on the body, neck, and fretboard (once I get the fretboard inlays done)
And after a visit from our friend Mr. Naphtha....
Here's a 1pc black limba chambered '71 with a figured Myrtle top. Neck is 3 pc very lightweight limba, tort binding, and will have a bois de rose fretboard with hollow block inlays.
This spalted maple topped '71 was sent off to get the rest of the finish done...
This quilt topped, floyded '71 is currently with Stike @ Rowyco Kustoms...
....as is this Galaxy V....
There's a bunch more, but that's more than enough for now, eh?
Denied. Post more.
AWESOME stuff Jon! Is the carve top '71 still based on my 3d model?
It is, indeed. Thanks for your great work on that!
Ok, here's one just for you!
** love eyes love.
