Whoo! Looking so great!
Heading back out there early in the morning; the first three should be ready to assemble and go to Boxcar Guitars. Here are a few more pix; I'll take a bunch more while I'm there, of course.
A few of them have final clear and need to be cut and buffed, some of them still have some stain and then sealer. They'll get candy shot over the top to complete the finish. The white striped blue one is mine, and was striped by Ernie Pedragon; the man who painted Randy's white V.
This one is going to be trans white over Korina; here's the first step:
Love this pic; it's too bad that it's cropped slightly.
Hot damn these look slick! Fully backed!
how did i miss this thread! these look awesome! the black dog hair is my favorite so far.
maybe I missed it,but what is the retail gonna be on them?
Just came back to look at the pics again, I must say they all look rad, but this shape with the fade finishes are absolutely perfect together.
Case in point:
Sully, are the necks oiled or glossed (aside from the fully painted one)?
Loving the pictures!
I can't wait to see the silverburst one.
Dude, me too. I got it ready for sealer yesterday and gave them the direction. So far, it'll be Inca silver all over, with the black burst edge on the lower portion of the body. There's a trans white with black binding that got sealer coats last night after the dye black/sand back stage.
I did a live video from the shop on the fb page yesterday; I'm biased, of course, but there's some neat stuff to see.
That one is my current favorite along with the dog hair.
All of the necks will have gloss finishes, but if any of the dealers pre-sell them with a satin neck request, I can make that happen on my end at assembly time.
The black dog hair finish is really cool in person. Retail will start around $3450.
A few quick shots:
These (with the exception of the two in the back) have clear on them and are in the sanding/more clearcoat process. The pinstripe in front hasn't been sanded, but the black fades look dull because they've been coarse sanded. The blue one (3rd from the back) is about to be buffed out.
And here's the blue one being buffed out:
This one has stain and sealer and is ready for it's final colors (some reddish/orangish/brownish tint) - this one will be modeled after Suhr's "bengal burst" (which varies greatly from guitar to guitar).
Buffed out and ready for assembly:

Sanding is fun; I was laughing at myself because I had to go between glasses/no glasses to make sure that all of the scratches were out of the binding before it got sealer coats. #GrampaSully
More adventures of Grampa Sully; this time, it's scraping binding.
Mr. J checking out the sealer coat:
Tons more, but you get the point for now.... More soon!
Dude, this is seriously the coolest thing.
Dude, that bengal burst. So hot.
Love it - waiting for Grandpa Sully to get the glasses that snap apart at the nose...

About to get PLEK'ed:
Black fade before clear coat:
A different black fade post clear coat:
Clear coated dog hair (which sounds really gross!)
Trans white flame top over clear Korina:
Damn dude, these are sick as hell!!
I really like that dog hair finish. Man, I want a 624 sump'in fierce.
Could you imagine a dog hair 624? I can! We should totally make that happen.
You guys should totally make that happen!!
