Startup Disk Issue

    For some reason after I restart my laptop, my startup disk seems be eating up GB's of free space in my startup disk and slow down my laptop. For example, if my startup disk has 25 GB's of free space left, it slowly decreases until I start getting the "Your startup disk is getting full" message. I should add that my laptop is a 2011 MacBook Air and I've never seen it be in this weird condition. So far, I've tried restarting it to free up space as I said before. I've also done things like delete any files or apps that I rarely use but that doesn't work. I honestly have no idea what else I can do that will free up more space on my laptop.
