One would be for "YO, CHECK MY MIX," and the other would be for people who actually have problems they need help with and for discussing techniques relevant to recording.

I just think it kinda sucks for the guy who needs help with an audio problem in his DAW, but no one will see it because his thread is flooded out with a million "AXE FX djent groove mix - free ep - wub wub wub content!" posts.

I agree on this one, so hard to sift through that part to actually find some info instead of all the mixes.

While that may be a decent idea, this IS a guitar forum after all, and not one specifically geared towards recording and DAWs
If you're really having issues you will probably have better luck posting on a forum like Gearslutz, Andy Sneap's forum, or whatever DAW you are using's own forum :2c:

Shit son, where dat drop Ω at?

On topic: I do think this would be a good idea. I use that forum to learn, and it's hard to find anything with it being so cramped.

This. I rarely visit the recording forum because it's a clusterfuck of "CHECK OUT MY NEW DJENT SONG!"

I'm for a "Check out my music" section.
It would remove clutter from the recording section.

However asking for help with mixes is related to the recording section as it involves discussing techniques and everyone can learn from it.

But drawing a line in between these two may be difficult. Most of the "check out my music" threads do ask for opinions on mixes.

But regardless I agree that something needs to be done.

Check out my riffs, music, song, ep, album and band all account for a lot of posts in the recording section.

This + a collaboration forum would finally clean up the Recording Studio and make it a bit more useful.

I also suggest we add a separate promotional forum where people post their bands' music and press releases. It's increasingly common to see "NEW EP RELEASED!!!!" or whatever in the recording forum, as if a recorded, mixed and mastered song or album is somehow relevant to the discussion there. Usually it's just blatant advertising.

People sure don't use it enough that way. Maybe they're afraid they'll get drowned out by all the Periphery threads.

^If they produced, engineered, mixed, or mastered it themselves, does it not belong in the recording forum?

There's a line between "hey, this is my mix, can you provide feedback" and "YO BROS MY BAND JUST RECORDED THIS SICK EP, CHECK IT OUT, NO WE WON'T CHANGE THE MIX BECAUSE IT'S ALREADY BEEN MASTERED AND PRINTED BUT I WANT YOU TO STROKE MY EGO ABOUT THAT TOO"

There are a lot of forum and sub-forum changes that need an overhaul, but it just doesn't seem to be in the Admin's cards at the moment.
