Speakers are GLUED to baffle in peavey XXL 2x12 cab!?!?

    i want to swap speakers as i dont like the blue marvels. after getting all the screws out i pull on it expecting it to come loose but nope, its not budging!?!? what gives? are they actually glued in there? or should i start prying? dont want to wreck anything. whos ever heard of speakers being glued to the baffle ?!?!? crazyness!

    Sometimes they can get stuck from being bolted in there tight for a long time, but glue is also possible. I think Vader would also glue their speakers into the cab for some reason.

    could be silicon sealed to help with vibration, sound dampening, to keep air pressure, etc.

    you may take a screwdriver and gently pry it...be careful.

    Yep, the gasket will bond with the baffle over time for whatever reasons.

    I had vintage speakers worth $500-600 a piece in a 4x12, no one wanted the cab, but everyone wanted the speakers. I couldn't/wouldn't dare take a putty knife to them to get them out.

    ive decided to just sell the whole cab. didnt realize how small the xxl 2x12 cab is, was going to put scopions in it but even if i could get the blue marvels out the scorpions still wouldnt fit. rather have a 2x12 cab where its easier to swap speakers.

    The "XXL" name seems a bit misleading then...
