so, after hearing that cow milk is bad for you and soy milk is much better for the umpteenth time, i decided to check it out. i found some websites, this one in particular...

    http://www.soytoy.com/comparemilks.html

i just had a glass of the stuff. it was very... um... earthy :D

but really, it was alot better than i thought it was going to be. everyone i talked to about it was like, "soy milk? that stuff is gross!!" well, from a guy who loves cow milk, i have to say that soy milk isn't gross. it's different, but not bad :)

See thats the thing, its not bad. Its different. It ISNT milk. It doesnt taste like milk, it doesnt feel like milk. Its basically juice, right? lol
its by no means bad (esp. the chocolate stuff) but it isnt milk, imo.

I've tried tons of soy beverages and didn't like them at all. The one i've found that i like best, however, is called "Silk", and the chocolate stuff is very, very good.

Soy milk is for people who are lactose intolerant. You know, people who can't have, or have never even tasted, real milk. ;)

Otherwise get the real stuff. :) Though, I'm allergic to 'whole' milk, so I have to get 2%. :p

that's the stuff i got, Silk. i saw the chocolate stuff there with some vanilla also. have you tried the vanilla?

i don't really see it as a trend, or a fashion, or even a fad. it's just healthier, and i think it would be a good change for me, so i'm going for it. sure it's not right for everyone, but i think it is for me.

    the devil. obviously. *stones fan*

I don't really get it- why exactly is milk supposed to be bad for you? Just the fat content? A little bit of fat isn't so bad- it's actually healthy, as long as you live an active lifestyle. And the calcium is, especially if you're a woman or a guy who has a thing for getting drunk and falling down, hugely important.

The atkins diet offends me on a personal level- I'm from a very large italian family (mom's side), so I'm keeping myself on a high carb diet in protest. And, the kicker is, I look better than most of the atkins devotees I know. Pasta and beer, baby.

Try the peterson diet sometime- seriously. It's simple. "Make sure your Calorie Intake matches your Calorie Outtake, and Don't Be a Fucking Idiot about What You Eat."

Well, cow's milk is for baby cows. A lot of people have a hard time digesting it, and the vitamins and minerals in it aren't easily absorbed. Humans are the only species on the planet that drink the milk of another creature, and the only species that drink milk beyond infancy.

    Hmm.

    Do you guys eat cheese?

I think the larger part of why no other animal drinks milk from another species is because they haven't really figured out how. ;)

    1. Cow's milk has twice the fat of soy milk and it is all from
animal fats loaded with toxins and more.
    >>Thats for flavor \m/

    2. Casein, 80% of the protein in cow's milk, is a powerful mucus maker.
    >>loogies rule \m/

    3. Fiber is a big plus... dairy has none.
    >>which is why you put it on cereal! \m/

    4. Vegetarian animals like cows, horses and elephants get all the
calcium they need from green plants. The center molecule, chlorophyll,
has approximately equal measures of calcium and magnesium which makes
most of that calcium usable. Cow's milk had less than 12 percent
of the magnesium necessary to use all that calcium.
    >>Doesnt really matter does it? ;p

    5. Cow's milk has over four times the salt content of soy milk.
    >>Which is why it tastes so good. Esp. With fries.

    6. Vitamine B-12 is needed in minuscule amounts. The body can store
    many years worth.
    >>Cool. \m/

    7. Heat kills the natural vitamin "D" during pasteurization. The vitamin
"D" added into cow's milk is D-3, from lanolin, pig brains, whatever.
    >>HEAD CHEESE! \m/

    8. Each cup of whole cow's milk has the cholesterol equivalent of 17
slices of bacon. Clogged arteries, anyone? Soymilk has none!
    >>Dont drink whole, drink skim! I love bacon btw.
    ---

This article fails to meniton that cows milk is actually milk whereas soy milk is plant extract ;p
But like i said before, idont mind it, but its not milk, IMO. Actually that chocolate silk stuff is pretty cool. My parents got a bottle the other day. But i like real milk better still.
