    Hello peeps,
I'm looking for a guitar and need some pointers on what to consider. Previously had a budget of around $1200 but that has changed and I can go up to $2k. Will need to purchase online, ship to family in the US and they will bring it with them to me when they visit for Christmas. As hard as I look, the Schecter Km7 is still the most tempting even though it's way below my budget.

Requirements: 7 string, fixed bridge, scale longer than 25.5. Multiscale not a problem. Neck not too thin. Prefer no black guitars but if it's too good to pass, I wouldn't mind. I play mostly metal (and dislike the "djent" thing)

    Things I've considered/am considering:
    1) Ormsby: sadly cannot guarantee shipping before December 20th.
    2) Kiesel: kinda scared considering all the recent horror stories.
    3) KM7: has most of the things I'm looking for.
    4) E2 Horizon NT7B Snow White Axe Palace run: not sure if this will arrive in time.
    5) Strandberg: topkek can't afford one. Also endurneck maybe too risky.
    6) Blackat in-stock guitars: ?? really not sure about this one.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

p.s I understand I'm taking a risk spending that much money sight unseen. Sadly this is my only option living in Jordan. It's a risk I'm willing to take.

I would suggest an Ibanez Uppercut RGD (BKP pickups) but the neck may be too thin.
If you like the E-II Horizon NT-7 in white but are worried you may not get it in time, how about the E-II T-B7 Baritone? http://www.espguitars.com/products/19688-e-ii-t-b7-baritone?category_id=1964652-7-8-string-guitars

It's true that in terms of 'stock' 7 string guitars there isn't a lot in the 1.5-2K range that are higher quality and not just 'good quality with awesome features.' The KM7 is a good guitar and will save you a lot of money; however, if you want a little more attention to detail in build quality I recommend going the E-II route with that T-B7 Baritone.

I haven't played any Kiesel, Ormsby, or Blackat's so can't comment on them.

You're preferred specs are pretty broad. What do you have? What do you like about guitars that you have played or disliked?

    Just get the km7. It’s a solid guitar. Although it’s 26.5 scale.

I'd be nervous too, but mind you the KM6 MKII I played one day was far beyond the Prestige guitars at that particular store. They're good. Real good.

Currently playing an Ibanez 6 string (my cheapo BCRich 7 is dead). Neck too thin (17mm) hurts my hand and wrist the day after every time I play. If I was gonna go Ibanez, that RGD was my #1 choice. Especially when IbanezRules exists.
Usually not a fan of teles but that T-B7 is sweet as hell. Will keep that in mind for sure thanks.

I tried not to list everything that I'd ever like in a guitar. I just listed the important stuff just to see what my options are, then I'd look through them and decide what I prefer from what's available. I dislike Gibson-thick necks and Ibanez-thin necks. Loved the E2 Eclipse but that was a 6 string. Don't like the extreme middy Periphery-like tones.

That scale length is a huge positive point for me

To be fair, Ibanez guitars that are set-up slightly off can change the experience. I've seen both nicely setup prestiges and straight-outta-factory prestiges, and the difference was crazy.

Can't think of many 7s that tick your boxes besides a Schec, if it helps here are the different neck thicknesses of the different main c7 models:

    Hellraiser C7 = Thin "C" 20mm/22mm
    Apocalypse C7 = Thin "C" 20mm/22mm
    Blackjack SLS C7 A = Ultra Thin "C" 19mm/20mm
    Hellraiser Hybrid C7 = Ultra Thin "C" 19mm/20mm
    KM7 = Ultra Thin "C" 19mm/20mm
    KM7 MK II = Ultra Thin "C" 19mm/20mm

Do you like TOMs or Hipshots?

Ooh thanks! Yeah the Schecter really ticks most boxes for me. I was just thinking there's no way a guitar almost half my budget is my best option.
    I prefer hipshot

Try looking at Legator. Their guitars are top notch and well worth the money

Funny, every Legator I've played hasn't been worth the wood it's made from.

I don't usually give that much credit to reviews, but not even Kiesel can do this

I'd order a Kiesel and special request their worst customer service before I think about Legator.

That's the general consensus isn't it

I played a used KM6 and it’s absolutely worth the asking price even new. The 7 is the exact same. Fantastic guitars at a great price point.

Unless I give in to headless GAS and order a Kiesel VM7 this week before it's too late, it looks like the KM7 or KM7 mk2 is the way I'm going. I've read all the Kiesel horror stories and seen the pictures and videos. I don't understand why I want one so bad. Halp

If I were you, I'd order the Kiesel and then thank me later, and I HATE headless guitars.

Kiesel is ok if you buy in stock or keep your custom order relatively simple

Well there. I emailed the sales dude who replied to my initial inquiry earlier. If delivery in the time frame I need is possible, I might just pull the trigger....

Definitely no option 50 stuff, but I do have a soft spot for a nice top. That's pretty much the only non-basic thing I chose.

I know there have been some bad experiences with Kiesel, but I've personally never had anything but great orders and outcomes with them. And some of my orders have been fairly heavy on the specs/requirements.

Just because you have a budget of 2k , doesn't mean you have to spend it. Get the KM7 if that's what you want. It's a great guitar. So great I have a MKI 6, MkII 6, MKI 7 and MKII 7. Hell, with the left over money, you can buy some more gear.
