Tung Oil on Claro Walnut top/Ash body, ready for assembly [IMG]

This one is going to be sold as "B-stock" on account of a small, very neat repair to the headstock - photos pending. No pickup, Gotoh 301 tuners and fixed bridge (black), Spider hard case, this would normally be priced up at £1466.

Offers or for full spec, please email via website (link in signature).

    Thanks M3CHK1LLA.

Since I started using the new logo and name, Kemp Guitars, I've been looking into different ways of branding my headstocks... Still deciding at the moment. These recent builds are signed on the back of the heads and marked in various discreet locations for authenticity (neck pocket, back of rear cover, etc).

    ***KM-I #2 Neck/Headstock repair ***

    Unfortunately, during the routing of the neck taper, I overshot the end of the fretboard slightly and cut into the width of the neck at the nut. This has been cleanly repaired and is visible only from the side of the neck in strong light;

This guitar is currently available to buy, as a prototype/showcase guitar it is sold as seen. That said, there is nothing wrong with the guitar other than this small cosmetic flaw, and it has been handcrafted to the exact same standard as any of my custom builds. All hardware (Gotoh bridge and tuners, jack, pot and knob, nut, neck ferrules, etc) is included, except for the pickup - which will have to be supplied and installed, along with wiring, by the buyer. The guitar comes with hard case.

Currently listed on eBay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172419579811 - this is the last build I will be selling off like this.

Shipping to USA no problem, it shouldn't cost more than £70 (approx. $88-$90) with the hard case. I'll invoice customers once the auction closes with those costs added.

    Good luck :)

Another of the latest stock builds is this all-Sapele, except for the Makore (aka African Cherry) fretboard, 6-string KM-I. This will be loaded with Gotoh fixed bridge (ignore the 7-string bridge in the photo)and 301 Series tuners once complete late December/early January.

Sapele has been one of my favourite "tonewoods" since I used it on my first ever full build. It's easy to work with and smells nice, but (sadly) it's usually seen as a "cheaper" alternative to Mahogany. This couldn't be any further from the truth; Sapele is more readily available so, naturally, it won't cost as much as Mahogany. Sapele is "similar" to Mahogany in appearance and tone, however, Sapele also offers more punch and bright, airy highs... And it's prettier than most genuine Mahogany.

Here's another build on the bench at the moment; it's a 7-string KM-II with Black Walnut off-set body, Maple neck and bound Ebony fretboard. This one will be loaded with Original Floyd Rose, BKP Juggarnaut set and Hipshot Grip-Lock, and is due to be shipped out to USA around mid-January...

Happy New Year to you all!

The last year passed so quick, especially the last couple months of it. Kemp Guitars is looking forward to 2017, and we start with the first two builds that will be leaving the workshop this month (January).

The first is the custom 7-string KM-II build, previously mentioned, now taking on some oil coats as we speak alongside our stock KM-I (#3) with Sapele body/neck and Makore fretboard...

In addition to two further stock builds (both 7-strings), we're also going to be working with this stunning Wenge top for a custom KM-I carve-top...

One last thing to add is about the latest CITES regulations that came into force today with regards to shipping any kind of Rosewood and some kinds of Bubinga - https://reverb.com/news/new-cites-regulations-for-all-rosewood-species.

In light of these new regulations, Kemp Guitars has decided to discontinue all Rosewood, Bubinga and Cocobolo as options on any guitars that are being shipped to any non-UK based customer. Sad, I know, but there is a lot of administration and costs for both myself and the recipient if a guitar is made using one or more of these woods.

^ The last of 6-string showcase builds (the next two are 7-string), now up for sale - a great opportunity to own one-off, custom shop guitar for the cost of a mid-price factory guitar... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172473100358

We don't do many 7-string builds but we have two in progress at the moment. The first is the Floyd Rose loaded Black Walnut KM-II, plus this latest one - based on an earlier KM-I with Wenge top on Black Limba body...

I was hoping to start a full-on build progress thread for a new custom build (KM-I carve-top) I started yesterday, but I decided against it. However, that Wenge top that appears in a photo a few posts ago...

15mm bookmatched Wenge top on 28mm Sapele body, five-piece Maple/Purpleheart neck and Ebony fretboard.

Will have to be put aside for a couple of days now but I'm looking forward to cracking on with this one some more [IMG]

    Thanks mcrdsd911.

I'll have a think about it. I do need to renew my dealer subscription so perhaps when I'm able to start new threads I'll do it.

In the meantime, do look out for more updates from Kemp Guitars - also on Facebook :)

Our next stock build (KM-II #2) is getting there... Neck carve tomorrow and then it'll be time to prep for an oil finish. As with the first KM-I build, the (TonePros) Tune-O-Matic bridge has been recessed to avoid the need for a neck angle.

With this being a stock build will it be hitting eBay too?
