It's been quite a while since I posted in this forum and in that time a LOT has changed.

I'll catch you up in a nutshell.

We've been refining our designs and evolving our build process and the guitars coming out of the workshop now are the best they've ever been.

With progress comes upgrades and with upgrades comes the need for space, planning permits have been submitted to local government to erect a workshop at a fantastic new location that has been purchased to build on. It's taken a long time for me to find the right place and I believe this one is it!

The new workshop will be much larger than the last measuring 21m X 12m as the current 15x9m one has simply been outgrown and things are so cramped I can barely move in there.

The new workshop will be nestled among trees in a natural setting, surrounded by wildlife, bush and views overlooking a valley, I cannot think of a better place to be making your new guitar!

I am taking names and compiling a list of builds that will begin once the new location is up and running. The first run has completely sold out and we're just now advertising another second run of some very special Walnut guitars.

There will be a several month wait until production begins again due to the build and relocation of the workshop, thinking later part of the year, which will enable those wanting a build to get their name on this priority list, secure a place and then you have the time to start saving up a decent deposit.

Enough chit chat, here are some pics of what has been happening of late!

We also did a run of T-shirts earlier this year. Sizes left are XL & XXL, AU$29.99 inc post within Australia.

Graphics designed by local artist and printed locally as well on AS colour shirt. The print and shirt cost a bit more than if I got typical "band shirts" done on Gildan or similar, but I wanted them to be top quality.

I said it before and I'll say it again - I've always been a fan of the no-nonsense bread-and-butter approach of your designs and excellent craftmanship. Keep at it!

    Thanks

There are some really nice ones in the stash that I haven't taken pics of yet. Unique smokey looking grain - imagine what pale moon Ebony figuring looks like, except it's all shades of black & grey. Looks really cool.

Terry (the guitars owner) wanted a guitar built with a theme to remember his two dogs OD & Kevin, which had been with him for many years. The paw prints add to the theme of the guitar.

Terry also requested a few specs like the color etc which are things he always wanted in a "dream guitar", then also added the remembrance aspect as well.

Just a heads up for anyone not following my Facebook page, there will be three small runs coming up soon, limited places only and all different themes.

1 - 2017 Exotic Flat Top Run - eg: Bicote, Ziricote, PM Ebony etc etc
2 - 2017 Camo airbrush theme - this is the most limited of the runs with possibly only four spots
3 - 2017 Figured Maple Top Run - eg: Burl, Spalt, Quilt, Flame, Birdseye

I have put photos up of some of the tops on Facebook, I'm still trying to find the others that are packed away as most things are still boxed up after our move. Over the next couple of weeks I'll photo the rest of the tops and then run spots will be advertised.

A good time for foreigners to be jumping in on our 2017 runs. There's three coming up to choose from. I'll post more details and pics here later on those, but there is info on our website for anyone wanting to know now!.

    Currently AU$3500.00 = ~US$2600.00

If it drops to .40c like predicted a guitar priced at AU$3500.00 = US$1400.00

    That's ridiculous savings!

The same in reverse for us Aussies, good time to buy local. If you're looking at a US$3500.00 guitar and the dollar drops, it'll cost you AU$8750.00, so jump on one of our runs instead and keep your money's local!

These timber sets are still available for the 2017 Exotic Run, all others are sold.

    Pale Moon Ebony:
(photo taken raw, once clear coated the colours will pop somewhat and show more contrast)

    Bocote:

(photo taken raw, once clear coated the colours will pop ad show more contrast)

    Redwood

This photo is a set I "B graded" and is for reference only, I will be using an A grade set that I'm yet to photograph (currently packed away in storage) that has much better colour separation and contrast through the center, the outside reddish figure will be very much the same and will darken somewhat with a clear coat.

    USA Myrtlewood Burl:
(photo taken raw and unsanded, once clear coated the colours will pop somewhat)
This is a light burl that is suitable for someone that wants a figured top but not something too in your face.

    Tasmanian Grown Camphor
This photo is taken raw and the colours will pop with a clear coat.

    Indian Rosewood

This photo is taken raw and unsanded, once sanded and clear coated the color will be much deeper and with more contrast. For a reference it is from the same batch as the back and sides on the acoustic I recently posted photos and video of.

This photo is to illustrate how much difference a clear coat can make to the above timbers, as the rosewood set I pictured above is from the same batch as the rosewood set used in this acoustic and raw and unsanded they looked very much the same.
