watch the video posted a couple posts up. Justin Roiland called out the fans on twitter saying they don't condone this behavior and to not mess with the mcdonald's employees. The pickle rick retard clip is also in there

Out of curiosity I did some searching on my lunch, and found his comments. Good to see they're willing to make some sort of comment, although I wish they'd rip into them a bit more given the level of BS the people were pulling over a fucking dipping sauce.

Harmon has a post somewhere on some social media calling out the fucking assholes about shit, but it happened by this specific incident. It was good though.

    The fans ruin this show.

don't you guys know? Only those with high IQ's can enjoy the subtle nuance of the humor of Rick and Morty. Unless you have a solid grasp of theoretical physics, most of the jokes will just go over your head. This show was made for thinkers, doers, movers and shakers. It is far above the comprehension of the average sheeple. /S

As much as I love this show, yeah, the fans are absolute garbage people apparently.

Side note: the quality of that video posted above is RIDICULOUSLY good?!

Good lord, I couldn't even make it through the first 10 seconds of that video. The cringe is too strong. I have never been so ashamed of liking a tv show.

I enjoy Rick and Morty (see avatar, which I'll likely change now), but the level of social media obsession, and even elitism for watching a show that has a few nihilistic puns and references quantum theory which most fans don't even understand, is insane. $15,000 for a bottle of fucking nugget sauce, and $200 for a packet? That's fucking stupid.

It’s ok to like it. Just don’t be an asshole about it like anything else. I loooooove futurama. But I don’t think that anyone who dislikes it is dumb or whatever. So magically it doesn’t affect my enjoyment of the show.

Every dog has his day, and right now R&M fans are the new bronies. It’ll pass.

So weird seeing adults willfully take a cartoon so far. You gotta realize it’s like the gamer fans that start to actually “hate” game developers for not making a game the way they want - the ones who behave like this in public don’t have better things to do.

So it’s best to just keep on liking your thing and talking about it with friends.

I've only seen a couple of episodes, and while I have noted a few somewhat thinly veiled references to philosophy, I don't recall any references to quantum theory. Can you point to an example?

I had noticed quite a few avatars here of characters from the show. I guess I should have known that it had become this popular.

I think part of it is that like bronies, what once started as a facetious play on super fandom has now been mistaken as actual fandom. 4chan loves to make fun of bronies and now rick and morty fans have replaced them. Hence all the memes about the show being too intelligent for uncultured swine to understand its nuanced references. I feel like the pickle rick guy at mcdonalds was trolling people.

As in, he's not a fan of the show, but wanted to impersonate fans of the show to make them look bad? That may well be, but still, people lines up for miles outside of McD's to get a taste of dipping sauce speaks volumes. Especially considering that this is all a poorly executed punchline to a poorly executed joke about nihilism, and anyone struggling to become a part of the butt of the "joke" is missing the entire point of the "joke."

The McDonald’s guy was absolutely trying (and failing) to be funny, IMO. He “naruto ran” out of the McDonald’s. The problem is that’s its not funny, he’s fucking with a bunch of people at work for a “joke” to impress people online. Shits lame.

Yeah it was the 'reee' that gave it away imo.
Amazing how desperate people get for even a modicum of attention.
