I’ve got an RGA8 that I’m going to be using for a doom/stoner-type of project. I’d like to replace those cr@p stock pickups with anything else.:congress:
Any suggestions? (I don’t need a lot of output since the fuzz pedals will be handling the dirt.)

what are you willing to pay? if you want boutique options then the avedissian scythe is excellent for doom/sludge/stoner stuff. same with the bkp warpig or guitarmory matador. matador is probably the most versatile out of those imo. If you're looking at cheaper stuff the duncan invader or pegasus will work well.

Pegasus is nice. I had blackouts in my old rga8 and they sounded incredible in that guitar for some reason.

Recieving an RGA8 with DActivators Friday, I can let you know how those sound. I definitely love my 7620 with the DA & Liqui combo.

I swapped the stock pickups in mine (as well as my RG8) for the DActivators as well. I'm more of an active pickup guy usually so I tried the EMG 808's and Blackouts first. Couldn't be happier with the DActivators. Can't recommend them enough.

    Ok!!
Thanks to @BigViolin , I have new pickups in the RGA8. And let me say,
HOLY CRAP!!! They sound freaking awesome!!! Seymour Duncan Pegasus in the Bridge, and a Sentient in the neck.
It’s more than a day and night difference between the Seymour’s and the crap Cort bass pickups that came in the RGA8.
We stripped out all the active circuit crap, and put a kill switch where the mini-toggle was.(proof of concept idea, I’m going to try to find a heavy duty video-game style one to put in for real)
A better report after I run it through my set up.
