I had an accident which hurt my back and I have varicose veins on one leg. So lifting weights is out of the question. Can I build big muscles with resistance bands? What type of excercises? Other or better options ? Thanks

Please consult a doctor, they are the Health professional you should be consulting first and foremost.

You can build muscles with body weight exercises if you work hard enough.

Resistance bands and bodyweight can help build strength but will only take you so far. Building "big muscles" requires lifting big weights. A lot. But really, listen to what 13la13la says.

I know this is a late answer, but hope you find it somewhat useful..

Rubber bands are only going to get you so far.
They are not meant for building muscle hypertrophy - you need bigger weights for that. However it is a good starting point in building strength in smaller muscles especially after an injury. I've used them a lot in the past due to injuries and I actually like them a lot!
