I haven't played a TC, but I've played a Royal Atlantic which is its predecessor. Definitely capable of gig volumes even at half power (50 watts if I recall).

Anyhow, 50-60 TUBE watts are more than adequate to blow a drummer and his whole kit off the stage, IME. I have a 60 watt 6505+ head ( made from a '112 combo) and a 120 watt 6505 head, and through my 412 cab, the "smaller" head reaches gig volumes at 3/10 on the volume dial, where the 120 watter reaches gig volumes at around 2/10. Both can exceed that volume without breaking a sweat, and carry tons of low end to any level necessary. The 60 water starts flubbing out a tad sooner, but only at a volume that is already drowning out a drummer.

50 watt heads are adequate for pretty much any situation.

    Mesa doesn't make quiet amps.
