That's very helpful! Thanks bunches.
paul gilbert, possibly the greatest teacher of all time... woot
I like how he doesn't leave out the small yet vital things..
Paul Gilbert is goofy in that kick ass shredding like a madman way.
video kicks arse! Paul's been doing a guest column on how to learn the basics of shredding in Total Guitar for about 18 months now. Now I'm single again and have the time to play guitar I plan on going through them in depth.
This is soooo good
Great video, thanks for the tip.
Does Total Guitar have a website this stuff's available on? Knowing Paul, I'm sure there's a LOT I could learn from these lessons...
Unfortunately not. It only has a subscriptions page on the publishers site. I'll try to get the time to dig the issues out and scan them.
First, congrats on crossing 1000 posts!
Second, that's technically a violation of the site's copyright policy, but I'm sure if you maybe just discussed the general synopsis of what they were (i.e - "Well, the first was about building a smooth and even alternate picking technique, and paul suggests working on X, Y, and Z, while the second...") that'd be enough and that'd violate no copyright laws...
I'm sure I could do that. I just need to dig out the back issues first.
That'd be cool
I'd love to get hold of them. Backhander etc ! It's like when i started, i'd photocopy songs out of song books that I wanted to learn!
I have a large stck of back issues of Total Guitar and Guitarist, and tons of tabs. You're more than welcome to come and peruse them.
*cough* I also have a photocopier *cough*
My, whatsoever could a photocopier have to do with this topic? Man, I'm confused... *whistles innocently, looks the other way...*
That would be most supremely metal of you, sir, if you could give me some new practice ideas.
Well, it's actually a laser print, scanner and photocopier combined. It means we can send high res images of our arses to Chris' PM inbox. I hear he likes that sort of thing.
I can certainly point you in the direction of the *cough* correct back issues to *cough* "purchase" *cough*.
I'm always open to gear-puchasing advice.
It would really really nice if someone were to rip the whole dvd for us...
Damn, how do some guys get so lucky!!
Seriously man, great vid post! I'd kill (or at least maim) to be his student!!
I have aquired 2 hour long videos of Paul Gilbert giving lessons (they look like they could have been made between 86-90). I will upload them to Youtube when I get home.
