When in doubt, leave it to Perry to inspire your build. He did it with my copper top.

    More goodness!

All these photos are amazing but I'll just have to comment on this build as it reminds me those chocolates with strawberries and I just want to take a bite! Delicious!

Yeah. I made a bone nut but it just didn't look right being the only thing white. Also swapped out the chrome washers and nuts on the tuners for black. Now I've got a spare mixed set :/

I was trying to figure out what those inlays were but now that I see it, I love the turtles! Please tell me it's going on that crazy blue/purple/teal dyed body in the bottom pic.

Yes, on a custom. Which you can't order until next year.

No, not on a hype. Because it totally stuffs up our production and therefore we just don't want to do it. You can only order a hype if it fits the options/specs/details/design we offer. That's a pretty massive list, but through necks aren't an option.

The question I always ask: why neck through? It's not more stable. There isn't more sustain. It's certainly more expensive. Better heel access? We design excellent access into every model, you don't even get near the heel when playing.

I've always been an either/or kind of player. I don't necessarily prefer one type of neck to the other and feel fine playing both. Is there any reason other than cost that you went with a set neck on the GTR run instead of bolt-on?

Because the factory is used to this type of construction. Less chance of warranty issues from shipping damage. And I figured it made a nice little upgrade.

I could go either way, and I agree there's no real big advantage to a set neck versus bolt on. Thru necks maybe, but I wouldn't say an advantage but more of a fundamental change to the instrument, and for a full neck thru piece of rosewood it's biggest difference is the price for such a giant slab of wood. But that's me spit balling. I can't tell the difference. I have all three types and it's negligable. I like them all.

Plus on a bolt on, if you break the neck or it warps, you can get a replacement made much easier then with a set neck.

Custom orders next year? I have a dream SX7 inspired/based on a currently existing Ormsby in mind. Willing to put down major coin and patience for that. Fingers crossed...
