Anyone have experience with the eminence delta 12a speakers (NOT the pro version)???
To my knowledge that's a pretty uncommon speaker. What has you interested in it?
Well its big brother the PRO version is known to be essentially a clone of the legendary beefy af EVM 12L which if youre familiar lends itself very well to big thick metal/rock tones.
From what i gather from all the research ive done the (NON PRO) delta 12A is similar but doesnt have such a sudden drop off in highs around 5khz and has a bit of a mid hump around the 2khz but otherwise is pretty similar. 400w each huge thick and clean speaker.
I think it will pair up very nicely with my extremely loud all analog solidstate rig.
Ive found a deal for 2 emi delta 12As in a 2x12 for $175 (canadian) and i dont think i should pass it up.
Grab it and give it a whirl.
I love mine, but it's in a thiele.
Ive decided to go for it. He says he'll throw in his other matching but empty yorkvillle (traynor) stage 2x12G cab for an extra $60. They are 15" deep which i think is a bit more than average so they should sound nice, hopefully.
So the 2 empty 2x12 cabs and the 2 delta 12A speakers for $235. Great deal imo.
I have a pair of swamp thangs, thinking of doing an X pattern!
Well ive had a couple (LOUD) band practices and i can honestly say the eminence delta 12A (non pro) might be my favorite speaker ever!!!!
It compliments my solidstate rig in every way. Huge, thick bodied tone with a smooth rounded top end and zero speaker breakup, My delta loaded 2x12 is 800w after all lol
Strange thing is that it was significantly louder than my 2x12 of swamp thangs which have a sensitivity of 103 compared to the deltas 98.
How can that be???
Might just get another 2 deltas.
Highly recommended! Theyre cheap too!
They are an acquired taste and not for everyone,
but damn are they a nice change from the norm.
