    Guitar: 26.5 inch, T.O.M bridge, string thru body.

    String gauges: 11-52 + 74

    Tuning: Ab-Eb-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb-Eb

    Problem: string...buzzing. That's the best I can describe it as. It's not fret buzz, and the string isn't rattling like it was when I was using a .59 for drop Ab. It is very tight now, but when I'm not palm muting there's this buzzing behind the note. It's very annoying. Is it not sitting in the saddle right? Or maybe the nut? Do I have to file the nut down better? I am slightly worried the T.O.M bridge can't take a string this size o_O;

    Any help appreciated.

    Note: it doesn't happen when I pick very lightly.

    Check your TOM saddles and nut.

    Make sure everything is seated nice and snug

    Don't quote me on this but if you're using big strings you might have to file channels into the TOM saddle to get it to sit there right.

    Keyword is smooth here, so cutting so it's smooth against the string is what I deduced from here:

    I think I might just take it to a local luthier tomorrow and hope they know what to do. It's a new guitar so I don't really wanna fuck with it lol.

    Smart man.

    :yesway:

    If you're not willing to futz with it out of fear, taking it to someone who knows what's up is always the wiser path.

    Sad face! I had it all strung up and ready to play all night ! :p ah well, the 74 doesn't look like it is sitting in the saddle right so I am assuming it is that. And I'm not willing to file it down myself without specific instructions, so.

    I have the exact same problem. Very annoying indeed!

    I've been able to lessen it through various settings (neck set up, string change, etc) but it's still there, just less so. I guess i must also bring it to someone who knows how to set it up better than i, just wish i didn't have to pay some outrageous price for that....

    I've had a similar problem with a previous guitar. In the end it turned out to be the tuners; the thumbscrew part was made half of plastic, half of metal and the two parts didn't fit together exactly right, meaning there was some play, and therefore buzz. Took ages to diagnose!

    Problem solved! 74 was just too much tension I suppose, the vibration was causing the guitar to rattle. 68 works beautiful.
