I'm on month 14, the wait is killing me
Your's may be in the same batch as mine when the time comes. I ordered November 2012.
Yea I shot Dylan an email asking if it was coming up. I try not to bother him, I've sent him 1 email in between the time I made the deposit and now. All this new activity with the site has me freaking out...
I want a Daemoness more than anything, but the thought of ordering one absolutely scares me. I have no idea what I would order just due to the fact that there are SO MANY possibilities and ideas that I know Dylan would blow out of the water.
22 months for me but I'm VERY glad my spot didn't come up this time last year because I've had time to really think about what I want.
Dylan's communication is top notch. He's more than happy to discuss anything you have in mind and if your in the EU its not to costly to ring him. I plan on popping into his workshop in the next few months.
I was chatting to him just before Xmas, told me my builds would be coming up in 4 batches time, approx. 6-8 months.
I can't remember how many times I've seen these posts. Place an order, talk it out with Dylan, thank me in two years. Dylan and Michi Matsuda are two of the best luthiers I've dealt with in terms of communication, out of maybe dozens of guys at this point. Placing a guitar order is not like getting an AA sponsor as some guys treat it, ("Hey Dylan. Yea, sorry to call this late. Yea, I know it's 2am. Yea, sure. I just...do you think an ivoroid trussrod would be better?"), but you'll at least be able to hash out a lot of ideas. And the thing is, you're not going to nail your specs 100% in isolation.
Otherwise you're going to be stuck in spec purgatory, waste a bunch of mental cycles rehashing the same ideas, finally get your dream guitar in like 2035. Then you'll decide you like thinner necks or something...or you're old enough to start playing soft jazz. And you know, don't let the aesthetics of the thing postpone you getting a killer sounding, feeling instrument.
Sent the deposit in May, sent the specs this week
So has there only been one Jotun made?
This post is worthless without... sharing your specs?
Loving the new site. Have you guys considered adding a page just to showcase the different guitar shapes that are available?
Sent in my guitar (design) idea. Can't wait to get a quote!
Yep and only one other fanned fret 7(for now). There is bound to be a few Jotuns built this year.
If you're serious about a Daemoness don't hesitate to jump on the waiting list. With the new website and mountain of guitars coming out the next few months lots of people are going to sign up.
How is this thread only 2 pages long?
It's not the length of the thread, but the motion in the ocean
Quoted for Yes.
If you click on the Rex Mori Cimmerian you get linked to the Cimmerian on the left... just sayin...
Huh, so there's more tuners on the bass side in the reversed.
Dylan's so metal his regular headstocks are reversed!
LEFT HANDED 6 String Cimmerian (I'm thinking contemporary carve)
- Mahogany Body
- Quilted Maple top (aiming for one with some nice figure)
- Rosewood Neck/Ebony Stripes
- Ebony/Ziricote Fretboard (Really whichever would bring out the best in the inlay I have in mind)
- Binding along the neck, body and headstock (pearloid probably)
- 24 frets
- Luminlay dots
- Stainless steel medium/jumbo frets
I want the finish on the top to be similar to this: http://www.prsguitars.com/artistpackage/img/gallery/cu22_ev_2.jpg
And I sent Dylan a really cool idea for a nature/forest-based inlay.
This will be my be-all-end-all sixer.
